Abstract: Precision nanosynthesis is crucial for atomic engineering in nanostructures and mechanistic understanding of nanoscale reactions. But it is a daunting task due to emerging complexities in nanostructures and nanosynthesis. Here, we report the precision synthesis of semiconductor nanocluster via synergizing coordination, cluster, and colloidal chemistry at the nanoscale. In particular, by employing Cu26Se13(PEt2Ph)14 cluster and CdI2(PPr3)2 coordination complex as precise precursors in colloidal cation exchange reaction, an atomically precise Cd26Se17I18(PPr3)10 cluster is produced at near-unity yield. X-ray crystallography reveals that the child CdSe cluster inherits its icosahedral-packed anion lattice and halide-phosphine-rich surface from parent cluster and complex respectively and further evolves into an enlarged structure. The hybridization of achiral precursors leads to chiral CdSe clusters co-crystallized as a 1:1 mixture of enantiomers.

Abstract: An electrode described herein comprises an ionic binder selected from the group consisting of poly(stryrenesulfonic acid), copolymer consisting poly(stryrenesulfonic acid), salts of poly(stryrenesulfonic acid), salts of copolymer consisting poly(stryrenesulfonic acid), and their derivatives. The herein disclosed binder materials can enhance battery power performance and improve the utilization of electrode material, hence increasing energy density, while maintaining the mechanical integrality of the electrodes using such binder materials.
