  • Patent number: 5832934
Abstract: A hand held portable humidor for cigars including a humidifying material for maintaining a substantially constant relative humidity within the humidor, the humidor including an upper housing and a lower housing which is formed of a material less rigid than the upper housing, with the lower housing being telescopically fitted within the upper housing such that a sliding seal is maintained between the upper housing and the lower housing. The upper housing includes an inwardly directed ridge; and the lower housing includes an outwardly directed ridge which contacts the inward directed ridge of the upper housing when the humidor is in a fully extended configuration preventing the lower housing from separating from the upper housing. The upper housing includes an exterior surface to which a cigar cutter is detachably secured. The humidor also includes a lid secured to the upper housing and an enclosure sized to receive the humidifying material.

  • Patent number: 5819419
Abstract: A letter opening device, having a letter opening blade for opening envelopes which is molded partially within a plastics molded body suitable for being hand held and for cutting open envelopes is provided with a generally rectangular recess in the body of a size to receive a business card, or the like, therein for display laterally for the body. Card retaining tabs are molded integrally of the body to retain the business card within the recess and a transparent flexible window member is provided for overlying the card in the recess. End tabs are formed integrally of the window member which cooperate with slots formed in the body to maintain the window member in assembled relation to the letter opener device in overlying relation to the business card being displayed by the letter opener device.

  • Patent number: 5791051
Abstract: A cigar cutter comprising a housing having a cigar tip receiving aperture, a cigar tip cutoff blade having an inclined cutting edge, and a blade mounting slide telescopically fitted to the housing and adapted to be manually operated to move the blade to cut off a cigar tip inserted through the aperture. A guide on the slide engages a guide receiving channel in the housing; the slide is guided to slide into and out of the housing, and to move the blade past the aperture to a fully inserted position. A spring disposed in the channel above the guide biases the slide outwardly from the housing. The blade is mounted on the slide with the cutting edge facing generally away from and at an angle to the guide. When the slide is manipulated into the housing against the bias of the spring, forces exerted on the slide by the blade during cutting of a cigar force the slide laterally within the housing, pressing the guide against the channel.

  • Patent number: 5337482
Abstract: A blade for a utility knife is provided which has a trapezoidal shape with a cutting edge and a pair of side edges which converge towards a blunt back edge. A safety edge joins each of the side edges with the cutting edges. The safety edges intersect with the cutting edge at an obtuse angle and provide substantially blunt surfaces. Safety corners are formed at intersections of the safety edges and the side edges. The safety corners are disposed at the outermost distal ends of the blade relative to the cutting edge. Cutting corners are formed at the intersections of the safety edges and the cutting edge. The cutting corners are disposed inwardly along the cutting edge relative the safety corners. This way, inadvertent contact between an operator and a safety edge would not be likely to cause injury since the safety corners would be contacted first.
