  • Publication number: 20080029265
Abstract: A combined anti-rotation and flow control tool comprises a tubular housing for connection with an oil production tubing string. A flow port in the side wall of the housing is selectively covered by a collar rotatably mounted on the tubular housing and including corresponding ports therein for selective alignment with the flow ports as the collar is rotated. An anti-rotation mechanism includes a fixed jaw on the tubular housing and a floating jaw on the collar for rotation therewith to vary the overall diameter of the tool as the floating jaw rotates relative to the fixed jaw. The collar and the floating jaw are coupled for movement together so that the flow ports are always in the open position when the anti-rotation mechanism is in a set position anchored against righthand rotation of the tubing string.

  • Patent number: 7278478
Abstract: An anchoring tool anchors a tubing string within a surrounding well casing against rotation in either clockwise or counter clockwise directions. The tool includes a tubular housing for connection in line with the tubing string. A fixed jaw is fixedly mounted on the tubular housing and a floating jaw is supported for full rotation about the tubular housing past the fixed jaw. When the floating jaw engages the well casing, the overall diameter of the tool is varied as the fixed jaw is rotated with the tubing string relative to the floating jaw and the surrounding well casing. The tool can be used for anchoring the tubing string to the well casing in either direction while the tool remains down hole in the well casing due to the floating jaw being rotatable past the fixed jaw.

  • Patent number: 6892811
Abstract: An anchoring tool is provided for preventing rotation of a tubing string relative to a surrounding well casing in both right and left hand directions of rotation. The tool includes tubular housing for connection in line with the tubing string. A gripping member is supported alongside the housing for rotation about an anchor axis lying substantially parallel to the housing. The gripping member has a profile which increases in radial dimension from a first gripping portion to a second gripping portion thereof. The first gripping portion and the second gripping portion being arranged to grip the surrounding well casing in a retracted position and an extended position respectively. Rotation of the housing with the tubing string relative to the well casing rotates the gripping member in relation to the housing to vary an overall diameter of the anchoring tool within the well casing, thereby preventing further rotation.

  • Patent number: 6189610
Abstract: An anti-rotation device prevents right-hand rotation of a tubing string within a stationary well casing. The device includes a tubular housing connected inline with the tubing string. A fixed jaw configured for gripping the well casing projects outwardly from the housing. A pair of collars free to rotate about the housing support two floating jaws, which are also configured for gripping the well casing. The floating jaws rotate about the housing between a free position in which the floating jaws are positioned adjacent the fixed jaw and the overall diameter of the device is less than the diameter of the well casing and an engaged position with the floating jaws and the fixed jaws situated on opposing sides of the housing and the overall diameter of the device is greater than the diameter of the well casing.
