Abstract: An interactive system and method includes at least two subsystems: one for providing exposure and incident information to a healthcare worker and another for collecting exposure and incident data at a healthcare facility in a confidential manner. The system includes input/output devices and a processor for accessing and displaying information on a desired healthcare topic and for collecting, via a series of interactive screens, accident data for subsequent collation within a facility and/or on a multifacility scale, such as for regulatory compliance. Data collection is preferably done in a confidential manner, and a report is generated that includes a risk assessment and recommended followup procedures. The input/output devices are preferably located in close proximity to an area having a relatively high likelihood of exposures or incidents, for permitting the user ready access to desired information.

Abstract: A fishing accessory is provided for temporarily parking a fishing implement having a pointed end, for cutting tackle from fishing line, and for cutting fishing line. The fishing accessory includes a generally planar base and a support structure affixed atop the base. At least a portion of the support structure's bottom surface is supported in spaced relation from the base top surface to form a notch therebetween. A perforable material is affixed atop the support structure and is adapted to park a pointed end of a fishing implement thereupon. A cutter is affixed to the support structure, so that at least a portion of its cutting surface is exposed within the notch, for cutting fishing line thereagainst.

Abstract: A surgical accessory is provided for temporarily parking a suture needle, for cleaning a cautery tip, and for cutting suture thread, for which a suture cutting assembly is disclosed that comprises a molded plastic structure with one notched end in which are situated at least one suture holder, to reversibly grasp suture thread guided into the notch, and a suture cutting blade to cut the suture thread. A second embodiment is disclosed comprising an accessory for temporarily parking a suture needle and for cleaning a cautery tip. In yet another embodiment, a flexible arm that can be clamped to a fixed surface is used to support the surgical suturing accessory.

Abstract: A catheter device is described for the localized introduction of pharmaceutical material into the uterine cervix and the upper vagina. In one embodiment the catheter device comprises a flexible tube having a port at the proximal end and a rounded closed tip and an aperture away from the tip at the distal end. A diaphragm having a hole through which the tube may pass is used to seal off the cervix and upper vagina from the lower vagina, and a syringe is used to administer the pharmaceutical material through the port in the flexible tube. In a second embodiment two ports are provided in the flexible tube, enabling a flushing material to be ejected into the tube after the pharmaceutical material, thus ensuring that the entire dose of pharmaceutical material is delivered to the cervix and the upper vagina.

Abstract: A disposable suture cutter and needle holder for a suture needle having thread thereon has a supporting base for a foamed plastic needle holder. A cutting blade having foamed plastic disposed adjacent to it is also mounted on the supporting structure. In one embodiment the supporting structure is in the form of a bracelet having a reversely turned portion at one end. The cutting blade is embedded in the reversibly turned portion. In another embodiment, two truncated conical members are joined at one side of their edges and spaced at the opposite side. The cutting blade is disposed between the spaced edges. In still another embodiment, two conical members are spaced from each other by foamed plastic having diametrically opposite located slots therein. The cutting blade has cutting edges adjacent to each slot.
