  • Patent number: 4408455
Abstract: The invention is an improvement in the economical generation of energy by providing a system for utilizing the wave action of bodies of water, such as ocean waves. The system consists of a pair of floating units, each separately connected to a shaft member by a connecting arm, a ratchet-like gear affixed to the shaft member is indexed forward alternately or concurrently by spring loaded pawls affixed to each of the connecting arms from the floating units to the shaft members. The wave action alternately raising and lowering the floating units concurrently turns the ratchet-like gear through the action of the pawls. Thus, the turning shaft, properly geared can turn an electric generator, air compressor, or other device of generating another form of energy which can be used or stored for future use.

  • Patent number: 4341492
Abstract: A method for pneumatically handling material having a slurry-like consistency such as chicken hatchery waste material includes a hopper for accepting the waste material, a receiver for accumulating the waste material and duct work which is connected between the hopper and the receiver. The system also includes a blower for creating reduced pressure in the receiver with respect to the hopper whereby the waste material is drawn from the hopper to the receiver. The system also includes a valving arrangement whereby a volumn of reduced pressure is maintained within the receiver above the accumulated waste material, the pressure being reduced with respect to the outside ambient, thereby causing air from the outside ambient to enter into a discharge aperture in the bottom of the receiver, through the accumulated waste material to the volumn of reduced pressure, thereby agitating, loosening and effecting the rapid discharge of the accumulated waste material through the discharge aperture.

  • Patent number: 4159852
Abstract: A continuous mining machine has a rotatable cutter head which is slidably mounted on a feed bar which in turn is slidably mounted on a support bar carried by a movable carrier. A cable extends over a sheave which is mounted on one end of the feed bar where one end of the cable is connected to the cutter head and the other end fixed with respect to the support bar. Means are provided for sliding the feed bar longitudinally with respect to the support bar whereby the cutter head will slide along the feed bar at twice the velocity that the feed bar slides with respect to the support bar.

  • Patent number: 4120390
Abstract: A crossover dump and conveyor advancer for a main conveyor means supported by a movable pan line. The crossover dump includes a tunnel portion through which the pan line extends and entry and reentry ramps supporting portions of the main conveyor are provided for carrying the main conveyor over a secondary conveyor which extends cross-wise to and above the pan line. Material carried by the main conveyor is moved up the entry ramp where it then falls onto the secondary conveyor. A conveyor advancer is included to move the pan line relative to the crossover dump in order that the conveyor system may be advanced or retracted. The main conveyor is adapted to connect with a continuous mining machine by way of a bridge conveyor. The pan line supporting the main conveyor has limit switches near the tailpiece which when contacted by the bridge conveyor will cause the conveyor advancer to advance or retract the pan line.

  • Patent number: 4046424
Abstract: A continuous mining machine having a cutter head moveably mounted on a support guide with a center portion extending across the width of a carrier. The support guide has hinged end portions so that the end portions may be swung against the side of the carrier in order that the machine may be maneuvered in restricted areas. A gathering conveyor is positioned beneath the support guide and comprises two wing portions which may also be swung against the sides of the carrier.

  • Patent number: 4003703
Abstract: A plurality of valves, including ball valves, regulates the flow of a sterilizing agent to and from a sterilizing chamber. Rotary means connected to a ball valve regulates the flow of the sterilizing agent through the valve. Driving means cause the rotary means to rotate, thereby opening or closing the ball valve at predetermined times. A plurality of switches regulate the driving means, and circuit means connected to the switching means regulate the temperature and pressure in the chamber in timed relation with the driving means. Camming means coupled to the driving means operate the switching means in timed relation with the driving means.

  • Patent number: 3990607
Abstract: Disclosed is an attachment for the control component of a conventional gasoline dispensing apparatus which interposes in the circuit controlling the energization of the gasoline pump a relay controlled circuit which requires momentary closure of a key-operated switch before normal operation of the pump can be reinitiated after a dispensing operation.
