  • Publication number: 20140000593
Abstract: The invention relates to a chemical oxygen generator for an emergency oxygen supply device in an aircraft, said generator comprising a housing, a solid chemical substance comprising oxygen in chemically bound form arranged inside said housing and extending along a longitudinal axis of said housing, a starter unit positioned adjacent to said chemical substance, said starter unit being adapted to provide energy to said chemical substance for initiating a chemical reaction of said solid chemical substance producing gaseous oxygen, an outflow port in said housing being in fluid communication with said chemical substance. According to the invention said solid chemical substance extends from a starter region adjacent to the starter unit to an end region, wherein the contour length to surface ratio of a cross section of said chemical substance in said starter region is larger than the contour length to surface ratio of a cross section of said chemical substance in the end region.

  • Publication number: 20140003073
Abstract: The invention relates to a passenger service unit comprising a reading light and a ventilation nozzle. The ventilation nozzle is pivotably mounted within a frame wherein the frame is fixed to the passenger service unit. A ring shape-element is arranged circumferentially around the ventilation nozzle and incorporates a plurality of light means providing a light beam to the passenger. The light means are adjusted by an adjustment means which effects a relative movement of the light means to the ring-shaped element. The ring-shaped element is immovable fixed to the frame.

  • Publication number: 20140000595
Abstract: The invention relates to an emergency oxygen device for passenger of an aircraft, comprising a chemical oxygen generator including a chemical oxygen source and an activation unit for initiating a chemical reaction of said chemical oxygen source producing oxygen, at least two oxygen masks each connected with the chemical oxygen generator for receiving an oxygen fluid flow from said chemical oxygen generator after said activation unit has initiated the chemical reaction, a mechanical activation assembly for activating the activation unit. According to the invention the activation unit is activated by a mechanical force exerted onto an activation element of the activation unit and the mechanical activation assembly comprises for each of the said at least two oxygen masks a first mechanical connection from the activation element to a fixation element releasably mounted to said emergency oxygen device and a second mechanical connection from said fixation element to said oxygen mask.

  • Publication number: 20120199694
Abstract: The invention relates to a passenger service unit for an aircraft, comprising at least one light source and at least one passenger air supply device. According to the invention the passenger air supply device is adapted for applying a flow of air to the light source. Furthermore it relates to a method for providing light and fresh air to passenger of an aircraft by providing an air flow from an air supply device and light from a light source to the passenger. The method comprises applying an air flow from said passenger air supply device to said light source for cooling the light source by means of convection. Furthermore the invention relates to a method for assembling a passenger service unit and to an aircraft.

  • Patent number: 7481216
Abstract: An emergency oxygen system is provided for aircraft passengers. The system includes at least one oxygen mask (2), with a sensor (4) for detecting at least one breathing characteristic value of a passenger using this oxygen mask (2). A control unit (10) individually determines the oxygen requirement of the passenger on account of the detected breathing characteristic value. A dosing device (8) is actuated by the control unit (10). The dosing device (8) supplies an oxygen quantity corresponding to the determined oxygen requirement, to the oxygen mask (2).
