  • Patent number: 7351474
Abstract: A pigment formulation in granule form obtainable by a) dispersing at least two different pigments (A) in a solution of a thermoplastic polymer (B) in an organic solvent in the presence or absence of a dispersant (C), and b) applying as a layer the dispersion produced in step a) to granules of a thermoplastic polymer (B?), which is the same as the polymer (B), with removal of the solvent, wherein the pigment formulation includes the granules of the thermoplastic polymer (B?); and a coating on the granules of the thermoplastic polymer (B?), where the coating comprises the at least two different pigments (A) and the thermoplastic polymer (B).

  • Patent number: 6980292
Abstract: The invention relates to a method of producing color pastes, in which a component comprising colorant particles is dispersed in a binder. In the method of the invention the dispersing operation is controlled by beaming excitational light of a defined wavelength range into a mixture of the component comprising colorant particles and the binder, detecting the light transmitted, reflected and/or scattered by the mixture and determining a sample spectrum, evaluating the sample spectrum and hence determining parameters of the color paste, and monitoring changes in the sample spectrum over time and terminating the dispersing operation when predetermined target parameters are attained.

  • Patent number: 6827478
Abstract: A method of automated preparation and characterization of liquid multicomponent systems comprising at least two, preferably three components comprises the automated preparation of a mixture by combining at least two, preferably three components in a vessel, at least one component being metered in an automated fashion into the vessel, and the automated homogenization of the mixture with subsequent automated measuring and evaluation. The apparatus for conducting this method comprises at least one metering station, one closing station, one homogenizing station, one measuring station for determining formulation properties, and one evaluation unit.

  • Patent number: 5496403
Abstract: Inorganic oxide pigments (ceramics) are prepared by mixing the starting materials in the presence of water and in the presence or absence of assistants, drying and subsequent calcining in a rotary furnace by processing the starting materials in the presence of water into a pumpable suspension having particle sizes of 50%<10 .mu.m and 100%<50 .mu.m, dewatering the suspension by spray drying it to leave porous granules, and calcining those granules>97% from 20 to 800 .mu.m in size.
