  • Patent number: 7760724
Abstract: There is provided a method and apparatus for stamping any Ethernet frames. Any Ethernet frame is provided with a time stamp, it being possible to use standard Ethernet controllers defined according to IEEE 802.X. This is achieved by the method in such a way that the stamp is applied between an Ethernet controller operated in RAW mode and a “Physical Layer” to an area of the Media Access Control (MAC) destination address, while the original MAC destination address is advantageously encoded in the remaining area.

  • Patent number: 7668994
Abstract: In accordance to one aspect, a method for optimizing the effective data transmission rate in a bus system, in particular in automation technology is provided. A data telegram used in higher-order data networks based on the Internet protocol, with at least one data telegram, at least one data segment and/or at least one data section being generated and/or modified and/or deleted by at least one slave. The topology of the bus system can hereby be selected according to the application and is taken into account in the configuration of the data contained in the data telegrams, without infringing the protocol characteristics of the higher-order data network. The number of data telegrams required is hereby significantly reduced, in particular on communication links with maximum loading.

  • Patent number: 7483396
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for assigning an IP address to a device (116), comprising the following steps: connecting the device (116) to a port (110) of a switch (104), transmitting an identification code (124) of the port (110) from the switch (104) to the device (116), transmitting the identification code (124) of the port (110) from the device (116) to an address server (122), assigning the IP address to the device (116) on the basis of the identification code (124) of the port (110).

  • Patent number: 7450607
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and a system for communication in a data network (101), in particular switched Ethernet, and a user (102) in such a data network (101). To reduce the communication resources required for the transmission of telegrams (119-135) in the data network (101), it is proposed that time segments are defined, which are repeated cyclically at a basic clock rate, that telegrams (119-135) are each assigned a first identifier U, which allocates to the respective telegram (119-135) a group of n successive time segments for transmission of the respective telegram (119-135), whereby the group is repeated cyclically, that the telegrams (119-135) are each assigned a second identifier Z, which allocates to the respective telegram (119-135) an mth time segment in the sequence of n time segments of a group for transmission of the respective telegram (119-135), whereby 1?m?n and that the telegrams (119-135) are transmitted in the respectively assigned time segment.

  • Patent number: 7373578
Abstract: A method for cyclical communication between communications stations controls or surveys a technical process, through a bus. Communications relations, which are provided for the communication stations are executed during each bus cycle of predetermined duration and if a communications relation is disturbed, its repetition is scheduled for a succeeding bus cycle and the disturbed communications relation is acknowledged with a special acknowledgement code.

  • Patent number: 6892247
Abstract: A communication method for use with a decentralized bus system B, to which a plurality of communication participants are connected, including a first master M1, which is assigned to a first master system MS1, and a second master M2 and a slave S3, which are assigned to a second master system MS2 that is associated with at least one application and provided with a filter table FT containing data entries. A message M having a header (provided with data entries corresponding to the filter table data entries) and message data is formed and transmitted from the first master M1 over the bus B. The message M is detected, and at least some header data are evaluated in the second master system MS2, including being compared to the filter table data entries. The message data D are made available to the application when the header and filter table data entries coincide.

  • Patent number: 6816888
Abstract: A communication process and system for communicating between communication participants (S1, S2, S3, S4) that are provided for control and/or monitoring of a technological process, the communication participants connected in communication with each other by way of a bus system (B) and can be identified using their addresses. Each communication participant manages a first group of references as so-called service access points (SAPs), and for at least one of the service access points, a second group of references is managed. Access to an individual reference from this second group of references is carried out using the address of the accessing communication participant. A source address lookup table may be provided to convert participant addresses into a unique natural number corresponding to a particular reference.

  • Patent number: 6687551
Abstract: A communication subscriber which, as a passive subscriber of a communication system, does not have its own transmission authorization but listens to all the communication processes and can receive only those data items which are also intended for it, which can be identified without doubt from destination identifier allocated to the data items, is given the capability, according to the invention, also to receive in addition those data items whose destination identifier and source identifier match an entry in a filter table provided in the communication subscriber which has been given the capability according to the invention.

  • Publication number: 20030056021
Abstract: A potential communication partner receives an inquiry which prompts it to notify the inquiring party of its interface in machine-readable form. When the interface data for the potential communication partner are available, the interface data can be transferred to a program, and communication with the remote partner can be started, the communication including a request for a functionality which is provided by the remote partner.
