  • Patent number: 6749177
Abstract: Damping valve for a shock absorber includes a damping valve body with at least one valve seat surface for a valve disk which is loaded in the lifting direction by a flow of damping medium. At least one support disk arranged on the valve disk determines, by its contour, a lever arm up to an effective surface to which pressure is applied by a damping medium in the lifting direction, and this support disk is pretensioned in direction of the valve disk by a tensioning plate, wherein the damping valve body forms a line of tensioning with the valve disk, support disk and tensioning plate, wherein at least one of the contact surfaces within the line of tensioning is profiled, so that there is a contact circle at the support disk, and the radius of the contact circle matches the provided reference dimension for the contour of the support disk determining the lever arm length.

  • Patent number: 6382648
Abstract: The invention relates to spring strut with a flexible pad between a coil spring and a spring-plate which is firmly connected to a cylindrical container of an oscillation damper. The flexible pad, which is used, in particular, for noise damping, is formed by a component of disk-shaped design which is flat on both sides, is composed of rubber, PU or some other plastic, and is connected in a captive and positionally correct manner to the spring-plate. For this purpose, at least one inward-pointing projection and/or at least one aperture is arranged on the flexible pad, interacting with a corresponding aperture and/or projection of the spring-plate. The flexible pad is adapted to the surface of the spring receptacle of the spring-plate by the prestressed coil spring.

  • Patent number: 6343804
Abstract: A shock absorber strut is provided including a tubular body, a clamping member, a steering knuckle, a fastening member and a positioning member. The tubular body is arranged at a lower region of the strut. The clamping member clamps the steering knuckle to the tubular body and includes a continuous slot along the steering knuckle and a fastening member which fastens the steering knuckle tubular body. The positioning member is a one piece component for positioning the clamping member with respect to the tubular body and includes a stop for positioning in the longitudinal direction and a projection for positioning in a circumferential direction. Optionally, a further positioning connection may be provided including a bead on the positioning member and a corresponding recess in the tubular body which engages the bead and allows the clamping member to be exactly aligned in the circumferential direction.

  • Patent number: 6269920
Abstract: A tension stop limit holder for a vibration damper in a vehicle suspension, comprises a U-shaped base section with a base plate and two opposing side walls. The base plate has a cutout which is adapted to the outer contour of a container tube of the vibration damper so that the tension stop limit holder contacts the container tube and the side walls can be welded with the container tube. At least one of the side walls has a receptacle for a connection with a stabilizer link of the vehicle length.

  • Patent number: 6267512
Abstract: A suspension thrust-bearing device for a telescopic suspension strut of a motor vehicle which includes a rolling bearing forming an axial thrust stop, a metal cup for accepting a suspension spring, and an elastic support block. The rolling bearing is positioned between the metal cup and the elastic support block which is secured to the frame of the motor vehicle. The rolling bearing includes an upper race placed within a cap which is in contact with the support block, and a lower race. The cap is provided with means for axially retaining the metal cup, to form a unit assembly, and acts as an interface between the upper race and the elastic support block. An outer cylindrical portion of the cap covers the periphery of the metal cup.

  • Patent number: 6260835
Abstract: The invention is directed to a vibration damper such as a shock strut for articulated installation between a car body and a wheel guide part in a motor vehicle by a quick connection. For this purpose, the vibration damper on the shock strut, together with an elastic joint and a connection part, forms a constructional unit or assembly unit. The quick connection is formed between the connection part and the body or the wheel guide without a catch connection and in a rigid manner, so that relative movement is prevented between the connection part and the body or wheel guide part.

  • Patent number: 6220408
Abstract: The invention relates to a spring-and-damper unit with an external storage device for installation between a vehicle body and a wheel guidance part. To create the greatest possible supporting length for the piston rod in a given installation space, the storage device is preferably connected to a spring plate, on which rests a carrying spring embodied as a coil spring, while the spring plate is arranged in a pressure-tight fashion on the cylinder or a container surrounding the cylinder. The interior of the cylinder or the container is hydraulically connected to the storage device via a connecting channel in the spring plate.

  • Patent number: 5006694
Abstract: A laser operation such as a laser welding operation or a laser cutting operation is improved in its quality and a consistently high quality is achieved by arranging auxiliary tool units upstream and/or downstream of a main laser tool unit including a primary laser head on a common tool carrier. The secondary tool units upstream of the laser operation are intended for a preliminary surface treatment to present the most appropriate surface conditions for the following laser operation. Similarly, the tool units arranged downstream of the laser operation are intended for subsequent work operations such as an immediate cleaning operation, a coating operation or the like to avoid a reoxidation of the welding seam or of the cut edge of the work piece. The secondary tools make sure that the laser operation is enhanced or improved either by presenting optimal conditions for the laser operation or by improving the work piece subsequent to the laser operation.
