  • Patent number: 8171898
Abstract: A crankcase breathing system (1) for an internal combustion engine includes at least one oil separating apparatus with a preliminary separator (3) and a main separator (4) arranged downstream of the same, with the preliminary separator (3) including a diffuser (11) between an inlet (7) and an outlet (8) which expands in the direction of flow. In order to achieve high separation rates in the simplest possible way it is provided that the preliminary separator (3) is arranged integrally with the main separator (4), with preferably the preliminary separator (3) and the main separator (4) forming a separator unit (2).
    Type: Grant
    Filed: February 1, 2007
Date of Patent: May 8, 2012
    Assignee: AVL List GmbH
Inventors: Günther Nagenkögl, Robert Roithinger, Robert Pöschl, Helmut Altendorfer, Andreas Schrattbauer, Christof Knollmayr

  • Patent number: 6752359
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for flexibly fastening a thermally stressed component (2), especially in an internal combustion engine, with a fastening member (12) for receiving the component (2). In order ensure both a secure fastening of the component (2) and a compensation of longitudinal expansions of the component (2) it is provided that the fastening member (12) comprises at least one clamp bracket (4), with at least one rollable intermediate member (5) being disposed between the clamp bracket (4) and the component (2).

  • Patent number: 6509731
Abstract: A device for measuring the rotational speed of a rotating body, in particular a toothed wheel, is provided with a variable-inductance speed pick-up which is mounted in a housing and faces an annular measurement zone of a rotating body having at least one measurement-sensitive discontinuity of measurement. The rotating body is further provided with at least one disturbance zone with at least one disturbance discontinuity that influences the measurement. In order to improve the quality of the measurement it is provided that at least one screen is arranged between the disturbance zone and the speed pick-up.
