  • Patent number: 8509242
Abstract: The present invention involves traffic management in a communication system (1) comprising multiple communication terminal (10, 200) that each has data flows presented in transmit buffers (14, 220). The terminals (10, 200) utilize a default priority scheme for selecting data from the buffers (14, 220) to transmit at transmission occasions determined by a schedule scheme. A switching event is detected based on information of an estimate distribution of data flows in a first portion (2) of the system (1). A priority scheme update message is generated based on this event detection. The update message comprises information of a temporary priority scheme that is to be used by terminals (10, 200) in a second portion (2; 5) of the system (1). By using this temporary scheme that assigns new temporary priorities to the data flows, a local shaping of the transmission pattern and data flow distribution in the second system portion (2; 5) is possible.

  • Publication number: 20120233697
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses for network 10 based malware detection in an interrelated autonomous network access module 120 and network proxy 220 pair, where the network access module 120 is comprised within a mobile device 100. A file request from an end-user to the network 10 is intercepted, and a request is then sent both to a remote web server 30 and to a malware scanner server 30. When the malware scanning is finished, a notification is sent to the network access module 120, who have then received most or all fo the requested file.

  • Publication number: 20120164974
Abstract: The present invention relates to file pre-caching and file retrieving in an autonomous network access module comprising a local storage, and providing network connectivity to a mobile device in a telecommunication system. The network access module comprises a local storage and provides network connectivity to a mobile device (100) within which it is comprised. A received file request to a global radio network (10) from the mobile device (100) is intercepted, where after the file is searched for among available pre-cached files, which may reside within the local storage controlled by the network access module itself, or within a local storage of a peer network access module in a local radio network 70. If the file is found within available pre-cached files, it is transparently transferred over a bus interface to the requesting mobile device.

  • Patent number: 7680478
Abstract: Different types of traffic requiring different inactivity timer settings are assigned to different bearers or to different QoS classes. Different inactivity timer settings are established for different traffic types. Individual bearers or individual QoS classes are linked to a corresponding inactivity timer profile. The link may be accomplished in a number of ways. For example, an additional QoS parameter may be employed in a 3GPP QoS profile, or a new QoS class identifier may be mapped to an inactivity timer setting. Different inactivity timer settings allows both UE battery power conservation to be prioritized for some traffic and end-user experience (quick subsequent response times) to be prioritized for other traffic.

  • Patent number: 7239621
Abstract: In a cellular telecommunications network, a base station (BS) utilizes parameter(s) included in a received transport channel setup message (e.g., in a received COMMON TRANSPORT CHANNEL SETUP REQUEST message) in order to determine whether or not the physical channel identified in the setup message is already being used by another transport channel(s). Parameters included in the received setup message which may be utilized by the BS in making such a determination include, for example, cell ID, cell carrier ID, downlink scrambling code ID, downlink channelization code number or ID, and the like. The determined information may be used to check the consistency of setup messages received by the BS and/or to enable more efficient hardware configurations of such setups at the BS. Alternatively, the determined information may be used to decide whether to reject a requested physical channel setup request in other embodiments of this invention.

  • Patent number: 7152306
Abstract: A method for installing a stator winding in a stator core. A winding turn is formed by drawing a cable portion from a cable reel and inserting it into two winding slots. Each winding turn that is jointlessly connected to first winding turn and has the same winding direction as the first turn is formed by making this winding turn include a cable section corresponding to a turn on the reel that has been lifted off the reel by lateral movement over a gable of the reel. To form each winding turn that is jointlessly connected to the first winding turn and has a second winding direction opposite the winding direction of the first turn, the cable portion forming this winding turn is made to include a section corresponding to a turn on the reel that has been lifted off the reel by lateral movement over the other gable.

  • Patent number: 7149793
Abstract: The invention is concerned with a method in a communication network for invoking services, the communication network including at least one or more terminals and at least two service entities. In the method the terminal deduces necessary support and service components for providing an end-user service. A set of configuration requests is constructed at the terminal, each associated with one or more specific service entities for invoking individual service components composing a service. Each configuration request is forwarded from the terminal to the service entity/entities indirectly, by using a special network support function for configuring service entities—the assembler unit of the invention—or directly in a way, which is chosen in accordance with pre-defined criteria. The invention is also concerned with a communication network, a terminal and an assembler unit to perform the method.

  • Patent number: 6931448
Abstract: The present invention relates to resource reservation for establishing end-to-end quality of service in a digital communication system, without resource reservation signalling over the access bearer. The solution, according to the invention is to remove the resource reservation protocol signalling on the IP level, over the access interface, e.g. the expensive and narrow radio channel, and introduce an resource reservation protocol proxy in the network. The introduction of the proxy functionality still supports the possibility, or meets the requirement, to reserve resources end to end.
