  • Patent number: 6889661
Abstract: A fuel injection system having a high-pressure pump and a fuel injection valve for each cylinder of the engine in which the pump has a work chamber, and the injection valve has a valve member movable in an opening direction counter to the force of a closing spring braced between the injection valve member and a displaceable storage piston that is acted upon, on its side remote from the closing spring, by the pressure in the pump work chamber. The storage piston is movable into a storage chamber counter to the force of the closing spring, and the deflection stroke motion of the storage piston is limited by a stop. The storage piston has one shaft portion of smaller cross section, disposed in an outset position in a connecting bore, and one portion of larger cross section disposed outside the connecting bore toward the pump work chamber, and upon the deflection stroke motion of the storage piston into the storage chamber, its shaft portion of larger cross section dips into the connecting bore.

  • Publication number: 20040045529
Abstract: The fuel injection system has a high-pressure fuel pump (10) and a fuel injection valve (12) for a cylinder of the engine. The high-pressure fuel pump (10) has a pump work chamber (22), and the fuel injection valve (12) has an injection valve member (28) by which at least one injection opening (32) is controlled and which is movable in an opening direction (29) counter to the force of a closing spring (44); the closing spring (44) is braced on one end on the injection valve member (28) and on the other end on a displaceable storage piston (50) that is acted upon, on its side remote from the closing spring (44), by the pressure prevailing in the pump work chamber (22). The storage piston (50) is movable into a storage chamber (55) counter to the force of the closing spring (44), and the deflection stroke motion of the storage piston (50) into the storage chamber (55) is limited by a stop (54).

  • Patent number: 5050558
Abstract: In the proposed fuel injection pump of the radial-piston pump type, the fuel injection rate can be controlled exactly by means of an electrically controlled valve which monitors a relief channel (66) of the pump working space (53) and which, by means of its closing time, determines the period of high-pressure injection during the pump-piston feed strokes. In order utilize the total length of the flanks of the drive cams as efficiently as possible, additionally injection adjustment is carried out as a result of the rotation of an essentially stationary part (13, 33) of the cam drive of the pump pistons (37) of the fuel injection pump relative to the rotary-driven part (8,9) of this cam drive. At the same time, on a fuel injection pump with a rotary-driven cam ring (9), there is a separation between a roller-carrying part (13) and a part (33) carrying pistons (37).

  • Patent number: 4940036
Abstract: A distribution fuel injection pump for delivering fuel to injection nozzles of an internal combustion engine, said distribution fuel injection pump comprising a pump working space communicating with the inlet connected with a fluid source and an outlet connected with the injection nozzles, at least one pump plunger defining at least partially said pump working space, a distributor piston having a distributor bore communicating the pump working space with the outlet and a relief bore communicating the a relief space, and a control valve for controlling fluid flow through the outlet, said control valve including a valve element for controlling fuel flow between distribution bore and the relief bore of the distributor piston.

  • Patent number: 4486154
Abstract: There is proposed herein that a push rod of a fuel injection pump embodied as a radial piston pump which push rod further has a groove in its base be arranged to positively secure a roller in a relatively fixed position. The push rod is slidably guided in a hollow cylindrical wall in a sleeve. An apertured hub which forms an end wall of the sleeve has a slit, into which a prong which offstands axially from a fastening ring secured to said hub is arranged to protrude into said push rod. A helical spring supported by the sleeve presses a piston of the pump against the inside of the base of the push rod.
