  • Patent number: 7105790
Abstract: A process to control the trajectory of a spinning projectile. The projectile's accelerations are measured by means of an inertial unit in three axes within a reference linked to the projectile so as to prepare the piloting commands for the projectile's trajectory. The velocity vector V components (VX, VY, VZ) of the projectile are measured using a global positioning system (GPS) along three axes and within a land reference (GX, GY, GZ). Based on these measurements, the components (?X,?Y,?Z) of the acceleration vector ? are evaluated in the same land reference (GX, GY, GZ). At each of these measurements and periodical evaluations by the GPS, the Euler angles of the projectile are recalculated by combining the resultants of the velocity (V) and acceleration (?) measurements given by the GPS and those of the acceleration given by the inertial unit.

  • Patent number: 6886774
Abstract: A method of projectile control provides a control order for an organ allowing the yaw piloting of a spinning projectile. The control order causes a modification of a yaw piloting parameter of the projectile, the parameter that needs to be controlled being fin deflection. The angular rate of roll of the projectile is measured. At least one corrective coupling term is introduced into the evaluation of the control order modifying the yaw piloting parameter. The corrective coupling term is proportional to the angular rate of roll and also to the drift over time of the pitch piloting parameter to provide projectile piloting orders control fin motors.

  • Patent number: 6234082
Abstract: An artillery projectile to be fired from a large-caliber gun barrel. The projectile comprises a body whose rear part is fitted with deployable stabilizing fins, wherein the body is sub-calibered and carries at least one ejectable guiding sabot fitted with a sliding drive band to reduce the spin rate of the projectile.

  • Patent number: 6216595
Abstract: A process for the in-flight programming of a trigger time for an element of a projectile by a fire control system of a weapon, wherein the muzzle velocity (Vo) of the projectile is measured and the distancing velocity of the projectile at at least one other point during its trajectory after exiting the weapon barrel it measured. Based on these measured values an optimal trigger time is determined for the element so as to minimize the difference between the actual ground impact point and the desired ground impact point for the projectile or for a payload released during the payload's trajectory, and a programming or corrective programming is transmitted to the projectile which takes this optimal trigger time into account.
