    Abstract: An intraoral device (1) with a pair of dental aligners (10), each aligner having an outer shell (100) of rigid plastic in the shape of a rounded V defining branches joined at the front part (10a) of the outer shell. The front part has a truncated part in the form of an elongate notch (104), which confers flexibility on the outer shell in a plane orthogonal to the median sagittal plane of the aligners by bringing together or spacing apart the branches of the V. The outer shell includes an impression (106) formed in the front part on the outer face of the outer shell and extending on either side of the elongate notch.     Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for choosing an energy-efficient coolant temperature for electronics by considering the temperature dependence of the electronics' power dissipation. This dependence is explicitly considered in selecting the coolant temperature T0 that is sent to the equipment. To minimize power consumption PTotal for the entire system, where PTotal=P0+PCool is the sum of the electronic equipment's power consumption P0 plus the cooling equipment's power consumption PCool, PTotal is obtained experimentally, by measuring P0 and PCool, as a function of three parameters: coolant temperature T0; weather-related temperature T3 that affects the performance of free-cooling equipment; and computational state C of the electronic equipment, which affects the temperature dependence of its power consumption. This experiment provides, for each possible combination of T3 and C, the value T0* of T0 that minimizes PTotal.

    Abstract: An accelerometer having a pair of spaced apart planar electrodes in a housing wherein one of the planar electrodes is made of a thin film and has a mass attached to one side such that acceleration causes the thin film to flex. A solid state amplifier is located in the housing attached to one of the planar electrodes to measure the change in capacitance caused by the flexing of the thin film. The solid state amplifier may be an NPN transistor. The mass may be a 4.5 mm steel airgun shot, and the thin film may be 1 mil polyester aluminized metallic film. The output of the accelerometer is connected to one input of a operational amplifier, and the other input of the operational amplifier is connected to a transducer measuring ambient noise such that the ambient noise is removed from the signal from the accelerometer.
