    Abstract: A system includes a first sensor positioned to sense presence of a contrail in a first volume, wherein the first volume at least partially overlaps an expected volume of a contrail proximate an aircraft. A second sensor is positioned to sense a background reference in a second volume, where the second volume does not overlap the expected volume of a contrail proximate an aircraft. A controller is operatively connected to the first and second sensors. The controller includes machine readable instructions configured to cause the controller to utilize data input from both the first and second volumes to determine if a contrail is present from the aircraft. A system includes machine readable instructions configured to cause the controller to predict persistence of contrails on an intended route through the volume of airspace and to determine an improved route and/or propulsion operation to reduce contrail formation and persistence relative to the intended route.

    Abstract: A laser eye surgery system produces a treatment beam that includes a plurality of laser pulses. An optical coherence tomography (OCT) subsystem produces a source beam used to locate one or more structures of an eye. The OCT subsystem is used to sense the distance between a camera objective on the underside of the laser eye surgery system and the patient's eye. Control electronics compare the sensed distance with a pre-determined target distance, and reposition a movable patient support toward or away the camera objective until the sensed distance is at the pre-determined target distance. A subsequent measurement dependent upon the spacing between the camera objective and the patient's eye is performed, such as determining the astigmatic axis by observing the reflection of a plurality of point source LEDs arranged in concentric rings off the eye.

    Abstract: Aortic repair devices and associated systems and methods are disclosed herein. An aortic repair device configured in accordance with embodiments of the present technology can include a base member configured to be implanted in an aorta proximate to a diseased portion of the aorta, such as an aneurysm or dissection. The base member can direct blood flow past the diseased portion of the aorta to perfuse a portion of the aorta distal of the diseased portion. In some embodiments, one or more branch members can be coupled to the base member during the same or a separate intravascular procedure to perfuse one or more branching vessels of the patient's aorta. The branch members can be coupled to the base member via an ex situ or in situ fenestration formed through the base member.

    Abstract: A method of producing a polyamide elastomer comprising feeding a salt solution having a solids content of greater than or equal to 80% to a reactor having a phosphorous containing catalyst having a phosphorous level from 5 to 1000 part by million based on the total weight of the catalyst, feeding a polyether amine to the reactor, and reducing the pressure in the reactor once a target temperature is reached to polymerize the salt solution and the polyether amine to form the polyamide elastomer. The polyamide elastomer has particular uses as a cable tie and demonstrates improved cold-temperature applications while maintaining high strength, good flammability rating, and excellent processability.
