  • Patent number: 8364198
Abstract: A mobile unit includes a handset and a removable storage module having a unique storage module identity, for storing information specific to a user, including an Internet Protocol (IP) address. Additional information regarding a Public Land Mobile Network (PLMN) and International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI) which uniquely identifies the subscriber is also stored in the removable storage module. Upon successfully camping on a cell of a mobile network, the IP address is forwarded to an IP-based network capable of communicating with the mobile unit. In an alternate embodiment, the mobile unit has multi-network capabilities which allow it to communicate with an IP-based network and a cellular network at the same time. In another embodiment, existing cellular network services for the mobile unit having multi-network capabilities are routed through the IP-based network.

  • Publication number: 20110093471
Abstract: Systems and methods of electronic document handling permit organizations to comply with legal or regulatory requirements, electronic discovery and legal hold requirements, and/or other business requirements. The systems described provide a unified approach to data management that enables compliance, legal and IT personnel to focus efforts on, e.g., a single data repository. The systems permit users to define and utilize information governance policies that help automate and systematize different compliance tasks. In some examples, organizations may push data in any third-party data format to the systems described herein. The systems may permit compliance or IT personnel to detect when a legally sensitive production file has been changed or deleted. The systems may also provide a unified dashboard user interface. From a dashboard interface, users may perform searches, participate in collaborative data management workflows, obtain data management reports, and adjust policies.

  • Patent number: 7634720
Abstract: An improved system and method for providing context information of executable code to an input method is provided. Advanced text input methods may be made aware of the type of text expected to be received as input so that input methods may achieve a higher accuracy in recognition of text input. Generic interfaces provide a framework for supporting application authoring platforms to allow application developers to easily specify context information to the system and have it reliably forwarded to the correct input methods. Additionally, a context tagging tool may associate specific text input fields of an existing application with an input scope without modifying the application itself. The context tagging tool may create a manifest that contains tags associating the specific text input fields with an input scope. Any advanced input methods use by the application may be updated with instructions for accessing the context information stored in the manifest.

  • Publication number: 20080188548
Abstract: Novel cyclic ether vitamin D3 compounds having a cyclic ether side chain are disclosed. These compounds were first identified as metabolites of 3-epi vitamin D3 produced via a tissue-specific metabolic pathway which catalyzes the formation of a cyclic ether structure. Also disclosed are 1?(OH) 3-epi vitamin D3 compounds, which are produced via the epimerization of a 3-?-hydroxyl group of 1?(OH) vitamin D3 precursor in vivo. The vitamin D3 compounds of the present invention can be used as substitutes for natural and synthetic vitamin D3 compounds.

  • Patent number: 7386009
Abstract: In one aspect of the invention signal/control messages are embedded as packets in the payloads of SMS messages. The SMS messages are transmitted in a cellular network employing SMPP protocol. SMS messages intended to traverse an TCP/IP network are introduced to the TCP/IP network employing ICMP protocol. The protocol conversions are performed by a message center (MC), such as a SMS center or an SGSN in a cellular network or a WLAN Access Router when the SMS message is forwarded to a WLAN. The SMS messages are typically created by a mobile user, which is also capable of receiving the SMS messages having a signal/control message in the SMS message payload.

  • Patent number: 7239874
Abstract: A wireless network provides controlled wireless communications with multi-mode wireless WTRUs. The wireless network has at least one base station having a transceiver operating in an infrastructure communication mode with multi mode WTRUs and a controller that transmits control signals via infrastructure communications with a WTRU that control peer-to-peer mode communications of that WTRU with other WTRUs. A WTRU has transceiver components configured for selective operation in an infrastructure communication mode with a network base station and in a peer-to-peer communication mode with other WTRUs. The WTRU also has a transceiver controller configured to selectively control peer-to-peer mode communications with other WTRUs based on communication signals received in infrastructure communications with a network base station.

  • Patent number: 7231220
Abstract: A method and system for wireless mobile unit communication within a wireless network having geographic areas for preferred communication usage is provided. An estimated geographic location of a mobile unit is determined. The mobile unit is provided with relative position data of at least one preferred communication area relative to the determined mobile unit estimated location. The mobile unit is then relocated to a preferred communication area based on the relative position data. Preferably, a request for a pre-designated preferred communication area location is initiated by a mobile unit transmission and received by a network base station. The mobile unit can be equipped with a global positioning system (GPS) to determine the mobile unit's estimated location. Transmission of estimated location data can be dependent upon whether the mobile unit or the network calculates relative position data.

  • Patent number: 7089005
Abstract: A system facilitates handover of a wireless transmit and receive unit (WTRU) between a cellular network and a wireless local area network (WLAN). The WLAN communicates with a cellular network. A location of the WTRU is determined. The coverage areas of the WLAN and cellular network are determined. The WTRU is informed of the existence of the WLAN when the WTRU approaches the coverage area of the WLAN. The WTRU is handed over from the cellular network to the WLAN when the WTRU is in the coverage area of the WLAN and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 7074824
Abstract: Beta-lapachone, which is poorly soluble in most pharmaceutically acceptable solvents, has demonstrated significant antineoplastic activity against human cancer lines. The present invention overcomes this significant limitation by teaching novel pharmaceutical compositions comprising a therapeutically effective amount of Beta-lapachone, or a derivative or analog thereof, and a pharmaceutically acceptable solubilizing carrier molecule, which may be at water-solubilizing carrier molecule such as hydroxypropyl-?-cyclodextrin, or an oil-based solubilizing carrier molecule, for enhancing the solubility of Beta-lapachone in aqueous solution. The therapeutically effective amount of Beta-lapachone, or a derivative or analog thereof, may be complexed with the pharmaceutically acceptable solubilizing carrier molecule in aqueous solution. The novel pharmaceutical compositions may be administered with a second anticancer agent or in combination with radiation therapy.
