  • Patent number: 9778373
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to a radiation sensor for use particularly in, but by no means exclusively, in measuring radiation dose in photon or electron fields such as for radiation medicine, including radiotherapy and radiation based diagnosis. According to the present invention, there is provided a semiconductor radiation detector comprising a radiation sensitive detector element arranged such that it forms a continuous radiation sensitive portion having surfaces oriented in at least two non-parallel directions.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 20, 2011
Date of Patent: October 3, 2017
    Assignee: SCANDIDOS AB
Inventors: Görgen Nilsson, Stephane Junique, Wlodek Kaplan, Peter Norlin

  • Publication number: 20080191141
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device enabling quantification of dose delivery in radiotherapy treatment during patient-specific treatment of the patient utilising measurements in predefined time-intervals with information means positioned in the radiation beam, between the patient and the source and converting the readings to corresponding measures in a phantom.
    Type: Application

  • Patent number: 7371007
Abstract: Dose distribution is measured in a patient-shaped phantom with high accuracy for radiation therapy treatment verification. A detector configuration in such a phantom and improvements in measurement methodology enable application of correction factors in an accurate way.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 21, 2004
Date of Patent: May 13, 2008

  • Patent number: 7345274
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method enabling quantification of dose delivery in radiotherapy treatment during patient-specific treatment of the patient utilizing measurements in predefined time-intervals with information means positioned in the radiation beam, between the patient and the source and converting the readings to corresponding measures in a phantom. The invention additionally covers the method to obtain the said calibration factors for the detectors. The said calibration factors are obtained for each information means, field and said definable time-interval simultaneously irradiating the information means and said phantom including detectors to measure the absorbed dose using the said patient-specific treatment without patient.
    Type: Grant

  • Patent number: 6298115
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for calibrating a detector means intended for use in an apparatus for radiotherapy, characterised in that it comprises the steps of placing a patient in the radiotherapy apparatus with the part of the patient to be treated between a radiation emitting device and the detector means, applying a number of detectors on the patient, radiating the patient and the detectors, measuring the emitted radiation with the detectors in order to quantify the radiation dose, detecting the radiation emitted and passed through the patient by the detector means, whereby the detector means comprises a plurality of radiation detectors arranged as to detect the radiation beam, determining the value of the detected radiation from the detectors of the detector means, and relating the value of the detecting means with the measured radiation dose, thereby quantifying the radiation detected by the detector means.
