  • Publication number: 20160082497
Abstract: An automatic indexing dimpler includes a housing having an interior channel substantially centered along a longitudinal axis. A cam is slidably and rotatably disposed within the interior channel. The cam includes a first longitudinal groove, a second longitudinal groove and an angled groove adjoining the first longitudinal groove at a groove bottom end and the second longitudinal groove at a groove top end. Each longitudinal groove defines a discrete indexing position. A cam follower attached to the housing engages the first and second longitudinal grooves and the angled groove to operably rotate the cam about the longitudinal axis as the cam follower tracks along the angled groove from the groove bottom end to the groove top end. At least one dimple engagable with a workpiece and operable for forming a recessed region in the workpiece is operably connected to the cam for concurrent movement therewith.

  • Patent number: 8901167
Abstract: Disclosed are compositions and methods for the inhibition of biofilm formation or reduction of existing or developing biofilms in a patient. These methods also inhibit the aggregation of bacteria that form biofilms in the airways. The methods include administering to a subject that has or is at risk of developing biofilms a compound or formulation that inhibits the formation or polymerization of actin microfilaments or depolymerizes actin microfilaments at or proximal to the site of biofilm formation. Such a compound can be administered in combination with a compound or formulation that inhibits the accumulation or activity of cells that are likely to undergo necrosis at or proximal to the site of biofilm formation (i.e., neutrophils). The methods and compositions can further include the use of anti-DNA and/or anti-mucin compounds, as well as other therapeutic compounds and compositions.

  • Publication number: 20140320932
Abstract: A user interface is presented to a remote user via a network, such as through a computer. A preview command is received from the user. A scanning process (e.g., scanning multiple photographs simultaneously) is initiated at a scanner coupled with the user's computer, in response to receiving the preview command. The act of initiating is performed from a location remote from the user. A single scanned image is obtained through the scanner. A plurality of crop selections are received from the user, all of which are made within the single scanned image. Several regions within multiple scanned photographs may be selected for cropping. A plurality of image files are created based on the crop selections. The plurality of image files may be created in response to the user clicking just once on a button presented by the user interface.

  • Publication number: 20140310635
Abstract: A biological sample such as a tissue section is stained with one or more quantum dots and possibly other fluorophores (total number of fluorophores N). A camera coupled to a microscope generates an image of the specimen at a plurality of different wavelengths within the emission spectral band of the N fluorophores. An analysis module calculates coefficients C1 . . . CN at each pixel which are related to the concentration of each of the individual fluorophores. Morphological processing instructions find biological structures. A display module displays quantitative analysis results to the user. The quantitative analysis display includes histograms of the biological structures, scatter plots of fluorophore concentrations, statistical data, spectral data, image data and still others.

  • Publication number: 20140276890
Abstract: A driver for medical wires has a hollow drive shaft, rotatable about a rotation axis. The hollow drive shaft has a distal end and a proximal end. Furthermore, a plurality of clamping jaws penetrates under an angle into the hollow drive shaft close to its distal end. The clamping jaws are moved into or out of the hollow drive shaft by means of a jaw guide mounted slidable parallel to the rotation axis and movably connected to the clamping jaws. An actuator is provided to shift the jaw guide parallel to the rotation axis and therefore modify the penetration depth of the clamping jaws.
