Abstract: A compass saw comprises a drive unit for a saw blade holder carrying a saw blade, and a base plate supporting the drive unit. The base plate has on its underside a glide shoe lined on a bottom face with a contact sole. The guide shoe is provided to guide the blade at the level of the base plate, more particularly close above the contact sole, laterally to an extract such as to prevent it from deviating from the desired course, as well from canting and coming into off position.

Abstract: A bench has a driving unit on which abrading or polishing tools may be fixed. The unit is mounted on two cradles on the bench so that it may be rocked between an upright and a level position. The frame of the bench is made up of lengths of section and the bench top and the cradles may be slidingly moved thereon.
