Abstract: Provided are an apparatus and method for providing an Internet Protocol Datacasting (IPDC) service in a Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) system. A digital broadcasting transmission apparatus for providing an IPDC service includes an IPDC processing unit which generates IP packet data by packetizing data to be transmitted and generates information on a configuration of the IP packet data; a service linkage information (SLI) processing unit which generates SLI which is linkage information between the IP packet data and an IP bearer which delivers the IP packet data; and a transmitter which multiplexes and transmits the SLI and the IP packet data. Accordingly, by generating and using SLI for linking a DAB system and an IPDC system, the DAB system can effectively provide an IPDC service.

Abstract: An apparatus and method for generating a transport frame, and an apparatus and method for processing a transport frame are provided. The method of generating a transport frame includes: selecting an operation mode of a sub-transport frame, which is a transmission unit of an input packetized frame; generating a sub-transport frame based on the operation mode; and generating a transport frame using the sub-transport frame, wherein the operation mode is distinguished according to whether the sub-transport frame includes stuffing data. Accordingly, a packetized frame can be efficiently transmitted by reducing stuffing overhead bits due to stuffing data and header data.

Abstract: A method and a device for displaying good reception-sensitivity information in a broadcast receiver. The method includes: detecting location information of the broadcast receiver and a reception sensitivity of a broadcast signal transmitted from a base station; transmitting the detected location information and reception sensitivity to a region information management server managing regional reception-sensitivity information and regional guide information; receiving from the region information management server good reception-sensitivity information, which is information on a region which is closer than a predetermined distance from the broadcast receiver and which has a reception sensitivity greater than a predetermined value, and regional guide information on the corresponding region; and displaying the received good reception-sensitivity information and the received regional guide information.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for displaying the receptibility of a plurality of broadcasting services included in a single broadcasting channel as well as the receptibility of a digital broadcasting signal of a broadcasting channel. The method includes: receiving a plurality of broadcasting service bit streams included in a received broadcasting signal; checking a valid bit stream in the plurality of broadcasting service bit streams; and configuring a screen for displaying a service receptibility using the valid bit stream.

Abstract: A method and a device are provided for transmitting a broadcasting service in which a broadcasting service from a broadcasting station received by a broadcasting receiver is transmitted to one or more external terminals. The method includes: detecting format conversion information indicating a format that the broadcasting service is to be converted into by communicating with the external terminals; converting the broadcasting service into a format corresponding to the detected format conversion information; and transmitting the converted broadcasting service to the external terminals. Accordingly, the received broadcasting service can be used in the external terminals employing different formats.

Abstract: Provided is a method and apparatus for detecting errors generated by a DMB receiver by not processing received audio/video data in realtime. The error detection method includes: calculating a time required to process one frame obtained by dividing received data into frames having a predetermined size; and determining as an error a situation in which the calculated time exceeds time predetermined to process the one frame in realtime and transmitting an error recovering command. Accordingly, subsequent data frames can be normally processed by quickly detecting the error and recovering the error by initializing their associated modules.

Abstract: Provided are a data synchronization method and apparatus for a digital multimedia data receiver. The method includes determining whether to use a program clock reference value or an object clock reference value; and synchronizing audio and video data with reference to a clock obtained by dividing a system clock of the receiver into the program clock reference if the program clock reference value is determined to be used and synchronizing the audio and video data with reference to the clock output from a system timing clock counter into which the value of the object clock reference is set periodically if the object clock reference value is determined to be used. In the data synchronization method and apparatus, clocks of transmitting and receiving sides as well as video and audio data can be synchronized simply and efficiently using PCR or OCR information transmitted from a multimedia broadcasting system.

Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for detecting and processing transmission errors of various types of data which are transmitted in MPEG-2 transport streams. The transmission error processing method includes: detecting an error for an individual PES (packetized elementary stream) after detecting transmission error information from a received MPEG-2 transport stream (TS) including the transmission error information and demultiplexing the MPEG-2 TS into a plurality of PESes; recording data of the PES in a memory and adding a flag indicating that an error occurs to an end part of the data of the PES, and afterwards recording the data of the PES; and generating an interrupt according to the error detection.
