    Abstract: A laser device (10) includes a first laser source (102) for emitting laser beams with a first wavelength, a second laser source (104) for emitting laser beams with a second wavelength, a dichromic beamsplitter (110), and a flexible light waveguide (112). The dichromic beamsplitter is configured for transmitting laser beams emitted from the first laser source and changing a transmission direction of the laser beams emitted from the second laser source. The flexible light waveguide transmits the laser beams from the dichromic beamsplitter, and the flexible light waveguide has a light-input end (114) and a light-output end (116). The light-input end receives the laser beams from the dichromic beamsplitter, and the light-output outputs the laser beams to a workpiece. A laser system (30) using the same is also provided.

The superhard nano-particles are comprised of a material selected from the group consisting of silicon carbide, titanium carbide, and titanium nitride. The corrosion-resistant nano-particles are comprised of a material selected from the group consisting of chrome and chrome nitride. A method for making a hybrid coating structure includes steps of: providing a substrate; producing carbon plasma, superhard particle plasma and corrosion-resistant particle plasma by a sputtering method; and depositing a hybrid coating.

    Abstract: An apparatus for processing a work-piece (80) includes a laser source (102) and a first lens assembly (108). The laser source is configured for emitting laser beams. The first lens assembly is configured for adjustably focusing the laser beams onto the work-piece. The first lens assembly is disposed in optical alignment with the laser source and includes a first lens set having a positive refractive power and a second lens set having a negative refractive power. Because of the first lens assembly, the laser beams emitted from the laser source can be focused accurately onto the work-piece, and then the apparatus for processing the work-piece has accurately focused laser beams as a result.

A method for manufacturing the described field emission element is also provided. The method includes the steps of: (a) providing one supporting wire; (b) forming at least one field emission layer on an outer surface of the supporting wire; and (c) cutting the supporting wire, after forming the at least one field emission layer thereon, according to a predetermined length and then treating the at least one field emission layer on the supporting wire to form the field emission element.

The perpendicular magnetic recording layer has a composite layer structure with ferromagnetic grains and a matrix of an amorphous carbon-containing structure. Methods for making such magnetic recording media also are provided.
