  • Patent number: 12036111
Abstract: A method for the correction of the near vision of a patient suffering from age-related macular degeneration (AMD) and having a pseudophakic eye having at least one primary intraocular lens (IOL) implanted in a capsular bag in a posterior chamber of the eye, comprising: implanting a secondary IOL, made from a foldable soft material, between an iris of the eye and the primary IOL, wherein the secondary IOL comprises an optically active lens part having an optical axis and a plurality of evenly spaced haptics around the optically active lens part, the optically active lens part having a central optical lens portion and a peripheral optical lens portion surrounding the central optical lens portion, the central optical lens portion being a positive lens and having a refractive power that differs from a refractive power of the peripheral optical lens portion by +5 diopters up to +25 diopters, placing the central optical lens portion of the secondary IOL in an aligned position optically coaxial to the at least on

  • Publication number: 20190076236
Abstract: A foldable intraocular lens, made from a foldable soft material, suitable for implantation in a ciliary sulcus of a pseudophakic eye, is provided with an optically active lens part having an optical axis and at least four haptics unitary with the optically active lens part and uniformly spaced about a periphery of the optically active lens part. The optically active lens part has a central optical lens portion and a peripheral optical lens portion surrounding the central optical lens portion, the central optical lens portion having a refractive power that differs from a refractive power of the peripheral optical lens portion by +5 diopters up to +25 diopters and a rim between any two neighboring haptics free from surface irregularities that interfere with the iris of the pseudophakic eye.

  • Publication number: 20170172733
Abstract: A secondary foldable intraocular lens, IOL, (2) is provided that is surgically implanted in addition to at least one primary IOL (1) in the patient's pseudo-phakic eye. The secondary IOL (2) is arranged optically coaxial to the primary IOL (1) focusing a combined image onto the retina (5) of the patient's eye (4) additionally magnifying at least a central part of the image of the primary IOL (1) projected onto the macula (6) of the retina (5). The secondary IOL (2) comprises one or more haptics (7) for fixing and stabilizing it within the sulcus ciliaris (8) of the patient's eye (4)—and an optically active portion (9) designed to project the image through the primary IOL (1) onto the retina (5). The optically active portion (9) of the secondary IOL (2) comprises a central optical portion (10) and a peripheral optical portion (11) extending around the central optical portion (10), forming two different, but coaxially positioned lenses from one block.
