    Abstract: A towed vehicle detection apparatus for a towing vehicle includes a hose coupling for a hose for supplying pressurized air from the towing vehicle to brakes of the towed vehicle, a sensor configured to detect a physical position of the hose coupling relative to the towing vehicle, and a computer system configured to detect whether the towed vehicle is attached to the towing vehicle based on a signal from the sensor regarding the physical position of the hose coupling. The processing circuitry is configured to, based on the surface area type, determine a traction control procedure of the vehicle. The traction control procedure comprises a brake control procedure, a differential locking procedure, or a blend of the brake control procedure and the differential locking procedure. The processing circuitry triggers the vehicle to perform the determined traction control procedure.

    Abstract: A control unit for determining the number of trailers towed by a tractor unit in a tractor-trailer arrangement, wherein each trailer in the tractor-trailer arrangement comprises reference electrical loads that are controlled by the control unit and powered by a power supply in the tractor unit, and where the control unit is configured to activate one or more reference electrical loads in each trailer, whereby the activated reference electrical loads in each trailer has a known expected power consumption, contributing to a total expected power consumption that scales proportionally with the number of trailers. The control unit further configured to obtain power consumption data pertaining to the one or more reference electrical loads, and determine the number of trailers by analyzing the obtained power consumption data against the known expected power consumption of a single trailer.

    Abstract: A braking arrangement for a vehicle includes a source of pressurized air for supplying pressurized air, a wheel comprising a tire and a first pneumatic brake arrangement, the first pneumatic brake arrangement including a brake chamber and a brake, an anti-lock brake valve in a line between the brake chamber and the source of pressurized air, the anti-lock brake valve opening to connect the brake chamber to the source of pressurized air and closing to disconnect the brake chamber from the source of pressurized air, and an electronic control unit configured to open and close the anti-lock brake valve during an anti-lock braking operation, the electronic control unit being configured to set or adjust a rate at which pressure in the brake chamber is increased during the anti-lock braking operation by adjusting opening timing of the anti-lock brake valve. A method for changing performance of a braking arrangement is provided.
