Abstract: A method is provided for protecting data content against illegal copying. The data content is provided by an entertainment system and is output to output units in an authorized playback environment for playing back the data content. The method includes transmitting the data content in the authorized playback environment from the entertainment system to an output unit, and adding an interference signal to the data content such that, during playback of the data content outside the authorized playback environment a disruption is induced.

The data contents are provided by a distribution application available in a communications network and may be loaded onto an output unit to be played back on this output unit. A current system utilization of the output unit is monitored or measured during playback of the loaded data contents on the output unit. This current system utilization is compared to an estimated standard system utilization of the output unit for the playback of data contents. If the current system utilization of the output unit exceeds the estimated standard system utilization during a predefined period, appropriate protective measures, such as interrupting playback of the data contents, a corresponding message to the distribution application, etc., are taken and carried out to protect the data contents.

Abstract: The invention relates to a method for billing a service in a packet data network (PDN). According to said method, at least one type of billing is associated with at least one service that can be used by a user, and data representing the type and use of the service, in addition to the type of billing associated with the service or selected by the user, is stored during the use of the service selected by the user. The invention also relates to a billing system (VS) for carrying out the inventive method.
