  • Publication number: 20060059780
Abstract: A frame assembly for a window including a sash that slides vertically within a master frame. The master frame is substantially of unitary, one-piece construction that can advantageously be manufactured by an injection moulding process. The sash frame can also be of unitary, one-piece construction, and can also be manufactured by injection moulding. The master frame can be provided with liner support structures along the jambs to receive jamb liners in snap-fit. The liner support structures can advantageously be integrally moulded with the master frame.

  • Publication number: 20040211132
Abstract: In the combination of a frame guard device and the frame of a window or door, wherein the window or door is fitted in a wall having an exterior wall layer with a sill, the frame has a lower horizontal member adjacent the sill. The device has a base extending from the lower horizontal member of the frame and a compressive member extending from the base, and the compressive member has a datum surface disposed between the lower horizontal member of the frame and the sill. The distance between the base and the datum surface defines a force-absorbing zone.

  • Patent number: 6745523
Abstract: This invention relates to window and door assemblies, and particularly to a fastening member for fastening a first frame element of the assembly to a second frame element of the assembly. The fastening member can comprise a base, a first retaining member presented by the base to attach the fastening member to the first frame element, and a second retaining member presented by the base to attach the fastening member to the second frame element. Moreover, at least one of the first and second retaining members is adapted to attach the respective first and second frame element to the fastening member in sliding fit. Further, this invention discloses a method of attaching a first frame element of a window and door assembly to a second frame element of the assembly, particularly where the first frame element and the second frame element have differing rates of expansion and contraction along at least one given direction.

  • Patent number: 6173541
Abstract: A snap fitted dual frame window assembly provides for convenient installation of a window in a basement foundation of a residential home. An outer frame is used as a form or spacer for the window during pouring of a concrete foundation wall and has a sloping recessed guiding wall to accommodate an inner vinyl frame. Vinyl frame clips are attached to the inside of the outer frame to secure the inner vinyl frame. The inner vinyl frame includes a channel section which can be forced over the frame clips and then is held, in a snap fit, by the frame clips. One arm of a hinged window sash is mounted on the inner frame and the other is mounted on a window frame. The inner frame can be easily removed from the outer frame and re-installed in different orientations.

  • Patent number: 5646859
Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a template for use in assembling a structure such as a truss. One or more laser scanners mounted above a work surface are controlled by a computer to generate a scanning laser image of all or a portion of the structure. The computer receives data describing the relative location of the individual work pieces in their assembled positions and the position of the laser scanner relative to the work surface. The computer generates a set of template defining data which is converted to a control signal and transmitted to the laser scanner.
