Abstract: A pedal mechanism for a wheeled device includes a frame, at least one wheel having a geared hub, and the at least one wheel rotatably supported by the frame. At least one pedal lever is pivotably mounted to the frame at a mounted end and each lever has a drive end opposite the mounted end. A rotatable drive gear is carried by the frame and includes an axle extending from at least one side. A crank is coupled between the pedal lever device end and the axle. An endless chain is coupled between the geared hub and the rotatable drive gear so that movement of the at least one pedal lever causes rotation of the wheel. The wheeled device may also include a system controller and a motor, wherein a user controller panel allows for combined use of the pedal mechanism and the motor.

Abstract: A battery charger for charging batteries of different types, the charger comprising: a seat for receiving a battery; first and second electrical contacts, the first and second contacts independently movable relative to the seat. The charger further includes a back stop moveable relative to the seat for contacting the opposite side of the battery from the electrical contacts, and current supply means to supply current via the electrical contacts to the battery to charge the battery. The battery to be charged is sandwiched between the back stop and the electrical contacts with the back stop moved to secure the battery in engagement with the electrical contacts and the electrical contacts moved into alignment with terminals of the battery.

Abstract: A universal battery charger is described for accommodating a range of batteries. An adapter or connector is provided for each different type of battery which engages the standard housing including the main power supply. The adapter includes electronics which control the charging process, customised for each battery type. The adapter forms the front part of the charger and slides in from the front.

Abstract: A socket for an electric plug comprising a housing, a first and second pin receptacles, and a shutter mechanism comprising a first and second shield elements, the first and second shield elements, each comprising a detent, and are being joined together by a flexible member, the shutter mechanism being slidingly movable along an axis and also so as to be rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the sliding movement, the shutter mechanism comprising a biasing means for biasing the shutter mechanism into the first position, wherein insertion of only one pin into the first or second pin receptacle so as to contact the first or second shield element causes the shutter mechanism to rotate about the axis perpendicular to the sliding movement bringing the detent of either the first or second shield element into engagement with the housing preventing movement of the shutter mechanism into the second position.
