    Abstract: A container management system including a lid assembly configured to engage/disengage a collar of a container to close and open an aperture thereof, wherein the lid assembly includes an interior lid compartment in communication with an interior portion of the container when the lid assembly engages the collar, a reactive substance configured to undergo a physical change in response to a change of an environment condition at the aperture when the lid assembly engages the collar. The physical change of the reactive substance turns the lid assembly from a first operative condition wherein the lid assembly can be disengaged from the collar to open the aperture to a second operative condition wherein a portion of the lid assembly cannot be disengaged from the collar and closes the aperture.

At least a first portion 41 of the contact element 25 comprising at least a first part 35 of the counter surface 31 is formed by a first material being an elastic material having a shore hardness between 30 A and 70 A.

The conveyor conveys a succession of tubular segments transversely along a conveying direction. The feed unit feeds and conveys a continuous web and advances the web along a feed direction parallel to the conveying direction of the tubular segments so that the web faces respective application ends of the tubular segments. The applicator is movable along an application direction parallel to an axis of predominant extension of the succession of tubular segments and is configured to engage the web so as to separate respective closing elements from it.     Abstract: A device for combining filter segments with cigarette rod segments includes a first feed device for feeding a succession of gummed connecting strips and a second feed device for feeding a succession of groups, each including at least one cigarette rod segment and one filter segment, abutted end to end. A combining conveyor receives the groups in a first receiving station and the succession of strips in a second receiving station downstream of the first receiving station so that each gummed connecting strip is applied in flag-like manner on a respective group to connect the cigarette rod segment to the filter segment. A rolling drum receives the group with strip and rolls the strip round the group. A compression device downstream of the second receiving station and upstream of the release station produces compression between each group and the respective strip.

    Abstract: A method for making a sub-unit of a smoking article, specifically an HNB smoking article, includes preparing a rod segment, of the tobacco industry and wrapping a connecting strip of wrapping material round that rod segment, about a wrapping axis, in such a way that a first portion of the connecting strip is superposed on a first end of the rod segment and a second portion of it is axially protruding from the first end of the rod segment thereby defining a tubular wrapping which encloses a containment chamber. Then a filling material of the tobacco industry is placed inside the containment chamber. The method also includes a step of making a wall, transverse to the wrapping axis, defining an at least partial closure of the containment chamber, specifically by folding an end portion of the second portion the connecting strip.
