  • Patent number: 5849985
Abstract: An alkali metal peroxydisulfate or caroate can be used alone or in combination to destroy haloform present in an aqueous system. The destruction results in a reduction in the amount of haloform in the system. In another aspect, uv light and the peroxydisulfate and/or caroate can be used together to destroy the haloform present in the aqueous system.

  • Patent number: 4544494
Abstract: A stable, homogeneous, aqueous detergent slurry is described containing an amphoteric surface-active agent. The slurry contains about 14 weight percent to 30 weight percent of a sodium polyphosphate, about 1 weight percent to 5 weight percent of an alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal salt, a soluble anionic surface-active agent, about 0.5 to 5 weight percent of an amphoteric surface-active agent which is selected from the group consisting of N-coco .beta.-amino propionic acid; N-lauryl-, myristyl .beta.-amino propionic acid; disodium N-tallow .beta.-iminodipropionate; N-coco .beta.-amino butyric acid; and coco betaine, wherein sodium polyphosphate is present as insoluble particles having an average diameter of about 1 to about 10 microns, and the total amount of surface-active agents are from 13 weight percent to 20 weight percent.

  • Patent number: 4537708
Abstract: A stable, homogeneous, aqueous detergent slurry is described containing nonionic surface-active agents. The slurry contains about 14 weight percent to 30 weight percent of a sodium polyphoshate, about 1 weight percent to 5 weight percent of an alkali metal hydroxide or alkali metal salt, a soluble anionic surface-active agent, a soluble nonionic surface-active agent which is an alcohol alkoxylate having an HLB value of 4 to 9, wherein sodium polyphosphate is present as insoluble particles having an average diameter of about 1 to about 10 microns, the anionic and nonionic surface-active agents are present in a weight ratio of about 6.7:1 to 1.35:1, and the total amount of surface-active agents are from 13 weight percent to 20 weight percent.

  • Patent number: 4341747
Abstract: Nitrogen oxides are removed from gaseous mixtures by treatment with an aqueous solution of nitric acid having a concentration by weight from about 35% to about 58% and containing by weight at least 0.001% but less than 25% of hydrogen peroxide whereby the nitrogen oxides are converted to nitric acid.

  • Patent number: 4323465
Abstract: 4Na.sub.2 SO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O.sub.2.NaCl, having improved alkaline stability, is produced by crystallizing it in the presence of a stabilizing quantity of a soluble, organic polyphosphonate which is taken up in the crystalline structure of the compound. The stabilized product is useful as a peroxygen bleaching agent in alkaline bleach systems.
