  • Patent number: 6267837
Abstract: An insulating paperboard container is disclosed including a container body having a side wall and a bottom wall with the one side wall including a base layer and an insulating layer on at least a portion of the base layer, preferably on an inside surface of the side wall. The insulating layer being selectively adhered to at least a portion of the base layer such that the selective adhering of the insulating layer to the base layer creates air pockets between the insulating layer and the base layer with the air pockets being expandable in response to contact with a heated liquid. Such a container is formed from an insulating stock material comprising a paperboard base layer and an insulating layer overlying at least a portion of at least of one surface of the base layer with the insulating layer being selectively adhered to the surface of the base layer forming enclosed regions between the base layer and the insulating layer.

  • Patent number: 6250902
Abstract: An embossing roll cleaning apparatus is provided. The cleaning apparatus includes a nozzle having an air inlet and an elongated narrow outlet that extends an embossing width of the embossing roll. A source of compressed air is connected to the air inlet of the nozzle. The outlet of the nozzle directs the pressured air as an air knife against the surface of the embossing roll to dislodge deposits stuck to the surface of the embossing roll.

  • Patent number: 6193838
Abstract: A one-ply paper tissue product and a method of making a one-ply paper product combining high strength and softness along with low sidedness. The paper tissue product exhibits a sidedness parameter of less than 0.3 preferably, less than 0.225, a tensile modulus of no more than 32 grams/percent strain, a GM MMD of no more than about 0.225, and a cross directional strength of at least 200 grams per 3 inches. In stratification tissues, these properties are obtained by control of stratification, particularly, chemical stratification and stratification of furnish when appropriate. The tissue has a sidedness parameter value of less than 0.3, preferably, about 0.15 to about less than 0.225. In homogenous tissue, these properties are obtained by adding a strength enhancing agent to separate furnish sources prior to the funish sources being combined, and further, optionally adding the softener to the nascent web.

  • Patent number: 6093256
Abstract: A method is provided for cleaning a surface of an embossing roll in which the surface of the embossing roll is cleaned by directing pressurized air through an air nozzle as the embossing roll rotates. The air nozzle directs the pressurized air as an air knife that extends for the width of the embossing roll to clean the surface. A lubricant and solvent solution may be added to the air supply of the air nozzle to prevent deposits from sticking to the surface of the embossing roll and to dissolve any deposits that do stick to the surface of the embossing roll.
