  • Publication number: 20200362183
Abstract: A primer containing graphene as an additive and a method of priming a filled polymer substrate for providing a Class A final paint surface. The method includes providing a substrate with reinforcement materials. A primer which includes from 0.5-5% by weight of graphene as an additive is applied to the substrate for coating the substrate. The primer is cured during heating of the resulting product for drying the substrate. The graphene acts to dissipate heat providing less differential of heat between the primer and the substrate and/or coatings applied on top of the primer which produces an improved final appearance of a paint over a fiber reinforced polymer material.

  • Publication number: 20190322827
Abstract: A method for producing a Class “A” paintable surface on a fiber filled substrate part: the method provides a fiber filled polymer part having an outer show surface for use on a vehicle. This part is coated with a flexible primer coating substantially free of pigments for forming a primed surface capable of being painted for forming a Class “A” show surface for a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9577227
Abstract: A method includes: assembling a thermal-exchange tube in a module housing for an energy storage pack; assembling cells in the module housing, wherein the thermal-exchange tube runs between rows of the cells; applying an adhesive that affixes the cells and the thermal-exchange tube to the module housing; curing a first portion of the adhesive by radiation, wherein a second portion of the adhesive is shielded from the radiation by the cells or the thermal-exchange tube; and curing at least the second portion of the adhesive by a chemical cure mechanism.

  • Patent number: 9293792
Abstract: A method of managing leakage of liquid inside a battery system comprises: containing leaking liquid in a non-liquid sensitive region of the battery system so as to protect internal electrical components of the battery system from coming in contact with the leaking liquid; and in direct response to the leakage, expunging the leaking liquid from the battery system. A drain device includes: a body with a port therethrough, the body configured to be positioned in a wall of a container; means for opening the port in response to a first liquid contacting the drain device on an inside of the container; and means for resisting ingress into the container by a second liquid that contacts the drain device on an outside of the container.
