    Abstract: A node in a distributed computing environment can generate key-value pairs. The node can categorize the key-value pairs into bins, with each key-value pair being categorized into a bin spanning a range of hashed keys that includes a hashed key of the key-value pair. The node can determine nodes in the distributed computing environment that are mapped to the bins. The node can distribute each key-value pair to a node corresponding to a bin into which the key-value pair was categorized. The node can then sort any of the key-value pairs maintained on the node by hashed key or key to generate sorted key-value pairs. The node can assign index values to the sorted key-value pairs. The indexed key-value pairs may be the same each time the above process is run, regardless of the underlying topology of the distributed computing environment. This can result in stable data-processing.

    Abstract: A new signal amplification method exploiting the dense atom packing in metallic nanocrystals has been developed for detecting target substances. By dissolving nanocrystals to individual ions that are stoichiometrically converted to chromophores and quantified photometrically, extremely high signal amplification can be achieved. Signal amplification is fully determined by the total number of atoms in the nanocrystals bound to a single target molecule. The disclosed nanocrystal amplification method can be implemented with a rich selection of metal/metal oxide nanocrystals and metal-reactive chromogenic substrates.

    Abstract: A wireless charging system has a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter has (i) a TX coil that wirelessly transfers power to the receiver and (ii) TX circuitry that powers the TX coil and detects receiver removal by comparing TX input power and TX power loss. The TX circuitry can determine (1) TX input power as the product of sampled TX input current and voltage and (2) TX power loss using a mapping based on sampled TX coil current. When the receiver is present, the difference between TX input power and TX power loss has a first value and when the receiver is removed, the difference has a second, lesser value. The transmitter detects removal of the receiver by determining when the difference decreases below a specified threshold level. By frequently generating and analyzing the difference, the transmitter can quickly detect receiver removal and safely power down the TX coil.
