Abstract: An optical fiber comprises, from a center to a periphery, a fiber core of undoped silica; a cladding layer; and a coating of polyacrylate, wherein the fiber core has a radius of 5 to 7 ?m and an ellipticity of less than 1.5%, the cladding layer with an ellipticity of less than 0.4% comprises inner, intermediate, and outer cladding layers, the inner cladding layer being doped with fluorine of 5 to 12 ?m thickness, and refractive index difference to fiber core of ?0.4 to ?0.2%, the outer cladding layer being undoped quartz of 25 to 45 ?m thickness, and the coating comprises an inner coating of 25 to 40 ?m thickness, and an outer coating of 25 to 35 ?m thickness and an ellipticity of less than 2%. The optical fiber has high durability and large effective transmission area, a method and system for preparing such optical fiber are also disclosed.

Abstract: Patient treatment may be optimized using Recurrent Neural Network (RNN) based state simulation and Reinforcement learning (RL) techniques to simulate future states and actions. A RNN state simulator and a RL action generator may be trained using patient data such as historical states and actions. The RL action generator may be optimized by applying the RNN state simulator to simulating future states and applying the RL action generator to generate recommended actions based on the simulated future states. This process may be iteratively performed until a computational convergence is reached by the RL action generator which may indicate that the RL action generator has been optimized. A patient state may be fed into the optimized RL action generator to generate an optimal recommended treatment action.

Abstract: An electrical connector assembly includes an electrical connector and an outer frame receiving the electrical connector. The electrical connector includes an insulative housing, a number of conductive terminals affixed to the insulative housing, and a shielding shell enclosing the insulative housing. The insulative housing includes a base portion and a tongue portion. There exists an annular groove between an outer surface of the shielding shell and an inner wall of the outer frame. The outer frame includes a number of dispensing holes penetrating the inner wall and an outer wall thereof and communicating with the annular groove. An o-ring is injected into the annular groove through the dispensing holes by the insulative materials sealing a gap between the shielding shell and the outer frame. Since the o-ring is formed after assembling the electrical connector to the outer frame, the gap is better sealed.

Abstract: Combination therapies are automatically discovered that provide statistically significantly greater protection against a specific outcome, compared to therapies with fewer treatments. A dataset is received that associates each of a plurality of respective individual treatments with a corresponding outcome and a corresponding set of confounding factors. A plurality of new potential combination therapies are combined iteratively. The received dataset is used to automatically identify at least one candidate combination therapy of the new potential combination therapies that provides a statistically significantly greater protection against an outcome with reference to each of the plurality of respective individual treatments.

Abstract: Embodiments herein relate to systems and methods for rapidly calibrating optical medical sensors. In an embodiment, a method can include placing a reflective optical medical sensor device on or in a patient. The reflective optical medical sensor device can include one or more optical emitters; one or more optical detectors; and a measurement circuit having one or more transimpedance amplifiers (TIA). The method can include setting the TIA to a fixed gain value and then turning on the optical emitter associated with each spatially unique measurement vector and receiving reflected light with the associated optical detector for each spatially unique measurement vector at the same fixed gain value. The method can include assessing the signal-to-noise (SNR) for each spatially unique measurement vector and selecting the spatially unique measurement vector having the highest SNR. A client computer transmits instructions to the remote guideline server to retrieve and evaluate multiple candidate guidelines. The remote guideline server utilizes a neural network to identify a string of terms found in each of the multiple candidate guidelines that match one or more strings of terms from a model guideline; to identify a semantic concept of each of the multiple candidate guidelines that matches one or more semantic concepts from the model guideline; and to identify a structural pattern of each of the multiple candidate guidelines that matches one or more structural patterns of the model guideline. The candidate guidelines that match the model guideline are then sent from the remote guideline server to the client computer.
