    Abstract: A thermal cycler for a microfluidic device includes a controller operable to provide a series of electrical signals, a heat sink, and a heating element in thermal communication with the heat sink and operable to receive the series of electrical signals from the controller. The thermal cycler also includes a thermal chuck in thermal communication with the heating element. The thermal chuck comprises a heating surface operable to make thermal contact with the microfluidic device. The heating surface is characterized by a temperature ramp rate between 2.5 degrees Celsius per second and 5.5 degrees Celsius per second and a temperature difference between a first portion of the heating surface supporting a first portion of the microfluidic device and a second portion of the heating surface supporting a second portion of the microfluidic device is less than 0.25° C.

    Abstract: A laser annealing device and methods for annealing using the device are disclosed. The laser annealing device includes: a laser light source system (3); a laser adjusting system (4) that is connected to the laser light source system and is disposed above a wafer (1); a temperature monitoring system (5) that is disposed above the wafer (1) and configured to measure in real time a temperature at a location of the surface of the wafer at which a light spot is formed; and a central control system (6) in connection with each of the laser light source system, the laser adjusting system, the temperature monitoring system and a wafer table (2). The wafer is jointly annealed by laser beams from several independent lasers (31) in the laser light source system, which have different wavelengths and cooperate in a mutually complementary manner, with a selected optimum set of process parameters. As a result, an optimum annealing temperature can be achieved and surface pattern effects can be effectively reduced.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a method for associating a user with a base station based on backhaul capacity in heterogeneous cellular network. First, an available base station set is obtained through the SINRs, and the downlink data rate between the new user and each base station in the available base station set is calculated according to the SINR between them; Then, the usable link capacity factor of each base station is calculated based on the used link capacity and the backhaul capacity; Finally, the optimal base station is selected for the new user i under a constraint which is constructed by the bandwidth of the new user and the usable link capacity factor. The backhaul capacity of each base station is taken into account in selecting the optimal base station to associate with for the new user, thus the real time of user association and the overall performance of heterogeneous cellular network can be guaranteed.

    Abstract: The present invention discloses an energy-saving deployment method of a virtual CDN. According to the historical flow data of the virtual CDN and the prediction model (ARIMA) in the controller, the network peak flow in the next time period is predicted. Next, the scale of the virtual CDN system at the next moment is calculated according to the peak flow. Meanwhile, several redundant servers are added to correct the prediction error. The network flow is aggregated to the desired virtual servers based on the calculation of the controller through a load balancer. In this way, the utilization rate of the virtual CDN system can be increased, and the energy consumed due to the higher utilization rate of the CDN system is saved.

When used in a smectic stable state liquid crystal display pattern, these materials have high scattering properties and can effectively improve the contrast of a smectic liquid crystal display device. The present invention also improves contrast when it used in a reflective smectic liquid crystal display device.
