  • Publication number: 20100213864
Abstract: The present disclosure thus provides a technique for providing multi-level operation of ballast circuitry for discharge lamps. In one version, an auxiliary capacitance is switched in and out of circuit by a user controlled switch for lower the frequency of the voltage from the inverter to the transformer resulting in lower power output to the lamps. In another version, the auxiliary capacitance may be switched in and out of circuit by a user operated switch wherein the capacitance is connected to the secondary or output winding of the transformer for selectively reducing power to the lamps for reduced illumination. In other versions, auxiliary inductances are selectively switched in and out of circuit to alter the frequency of the primary voltage to the transformer. In another version, an auxiliary winding is selectively switched in and out of the secondary of the transformer for providing normal and reduced level power to the lamps.

  • Patent number: 7684470
Abstract: In a remote unit of a wireless communication system, the speed of acquisition, or reacquisition, of a pilot signal by a search engine is increased. PN space is divided into segments and a coarse search of each segment is performed using a set of “fast” search parameters. A set of peak signal strengths, along with their corresponding PN offsets, is saved for each segment of PN space. Following the search of all segments of PN space, the peak signal strengths which were saved during the coarse acquisition are evaluated. Coarse acquisition search results are used by the remote unit to determine fine search window parameters for subsequent searches performed by the remote unit search engine. The fine search parameters concentrate searching efforts on portions of PN space most likely to contain a viable base station pilot signal.

  • Patent number: 7679293
Abstract: An electronic ballast circuit having at least two distinct switching cycles also includes an anti-striation feature. More particularly the electronic ballast includes an input section configured to receive an input from a power source. A resonant section receives the signals from the input section in order to generate a resonant signal. An anti-striation component is connected within the electronic ballast circuit to affect operation of the resonant section, which results in an affected resonant signal. A switching arrangement is configured to receive the affected resonant signal from the resonant section and anti-striation component, and is further configured to generate an asymmetric output signal due to the affects of the anti-resonant component, wherein the anti-striation component causes parameters of the resonant section of the electronic ballast circuit to be different for different switching cycles of the electronic ballast circuit.

  • Publication number: 20050266147
Abstract: Methods for determining the degrees of fiber formation of textured vegetable proteins are provided. One inventive method based on fluorescence polarization technology comprises selecting a sample or a section thereof, using fluorescence polarization spectroscopy to detect P-value or Anisotropy Index of the sample, and obtaining the degree of fiber formation by comparing the P-value or Anisotropy Index to a pre-generated database collating P values or Anisotropy Index with degrees of fiber formation. Another inventive method based on image processing technique comprises preparing a sample to reveal its fibrous structures, obtaining an original image of the sample, applying edge detection to the original image to produce a second binary image with enhanced contrast, performing Hough transform on the second image to extract line information and generate a third image; defining region of interest on the third image; calculating the degree of fiber formation though analysis of the region of interest.
