  • Patent number: 11862875
Abstract: An antenna for a body-centric wireless communication system comprises first and second radiating structures between which is located a ground plane and a feed structure. The feed structure comprises a feed line extending between the first radiating structure and the ground plane, and a slot formed in the ground plane. A pair of shorting posts connects the first radiating structure to the ground plane. The antenna is capable of simultaneously generating in-body radiation, on-body radiation and off-body radiation in the same frequency band.

  • Publication number: 20230318186
Abstract: An antenna comprises a planar radiating structure, a ground plane and a feed structure. The radiation structure comprises a plurality of slots arranged symmetrically in concentric rings around an inner portion of the radiating structure. The slots are arranged to create a meandering current path on the radiating structure. The antenna produces an omnidirectional, monopole-like radiation field, and is relatively small with relatively high performance making it suitable for use in a wide variety of applications including those with challenging environments.

  • Publication number: 20120071094
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system that implements data communications through a barrier composed of composite, layered materials. A low frequency electromagnetic signal is used to achieve acceptable channel losses as the signal passes through a composite barrier which may comprise materials with variable conductivity and/or permeability.

  • Publication number: 20110291904
Abstract: The present invention discloses an antenna for coupling to a magnetic field component of an electromagnetic signal. The antenna comprises a coil of wire 121 having a pair of terminals 122 formed over an extended core 130 of a material having a relative magnetic permeability (?R) greater than unity. The extended core 130 comprises an elongate portion 135 having a long dimension along a first (Z) axis and short dimensions in a (X, Y) plane perpendicular to the first axis, and comprises first and second ends 133, 134 at opposite extremities of the long dimension. The extended core 130 further comprises at least one flange portion, 136, 137, disposed at one of the first and said second ends 133, 134 of the elongate section 135, having at least one larger dimension than the elongate section in the (X, Y) perpendicular plane.

  • Publication number: 20110287712
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system for wireless communications and/or data transfer through a sea-vessel hull by means of electric and/or magnetic coupling between first and second transducers located on opposing sides of the hull. Transmit and receive transducers located on opposing sides of the hull are clamped around cables which penetrate the hull and which are fed through pressure hull glands in the hull. The inductive transducers couple electric and/or magnetic signals through the sea vessel hull via paths through the pressure hull glands or via paths through the cables. The system for wireless communication and/or data transfer of the present invention is capable of operation through an electrically conductive sea vessel hull which would ordinarily present a physical barrier against the transmission of such signals. The system can be deployed on an ad ad-hoc basis and is capable of providing high data rate and high bandwidth communications and/or data transfer through the sea vessel hull.
