  • Patent number: 10262450
Abstract: A visual display unit creating a three-dimensional volumetric space. The display includes a first screen in a first focal plane, wherein the first screen displays a first image. The display includes a second screen in a second focal plane distinct from the first focal plane, wherein the second screen displays a second image, and wherein the second screen at least partially overlaps the first screen. The display includes a physical object located between the first screen and said second screen, wherein at least one of the first and second images is displayed in response to a placement of the physical object.

  • Patent number: 9791710
Abstract: A display device is described and includes a first display screen including a mask pattern of a pixel. The display device includes a second display screen including the mask pattern, wherein the second display screen is located further from a front of the display device than the first display screen, wherein the front of the display device is closest to a viewer. The display device includes a diffraction element configured to copy the mask pattern of the second display screen into one or more viewable copies in order to minimize moiré interference with the mask pattern of the first display screen.

  • Patent number: 8928682
Abstract: Image processing may be performed to generate a color image for display on a color display screen and a monochrome image for display on a monochrome display screen, where an overlap of the images may produce a resultant color image at one or more depths. The one or more depths may be determined by an amount of blur applied to one image and an amount of sharpness applied to other. The one or more depths may be determined by a gamma value of the monochrome image. Since the monochrome display screen may have fewer or no color filters and/or a lower resolution, the monochrome display screen may pass more light than conventional color display screens. As such, less light can be used to illuminate color images displayed at different depths using a color display screen and a monochrome display screen, thereby reducing energy consumption of the display device.
