  • Patent number: 6301827
Abstract: A trap for insects, primarily the Japanese beetle, which is supported on the surface of a body of water by a floating support, the support having an aperture which holds an upright, elongated tube. A funnel is fitted into the top end of the tube, and a scent-based means for luring insects into the funnel is supported by the upwardly facing entrance opening of the funnel. The insects are attracted to the scent-based means and fall through the funnel, tube, and aperture, onto the surface of water below the trap. The trap may be held upright by a means, such as a pipe anchored to the ground, the trap being vertically slidingly coupled to the means for holding the trap upright.
