  • Patent number: 4823528
Abstract: An improved manner of log wall and corner joint construction in log building structures utilizes log units of a rectangular cross-sectional shape with end portions having square notches formed in opposed stacking surfaces of the log units permitting stacking of the log units in coplanar relation with their notched end portions matingly interdigitated to insure proper plumbness of the resultant corner joint and walls. Wooden spacer members are stacked in alternate relation with the log units and painted with a sand paint to simulate traditional mortar joints between adjacent log units without the disadvantages of such joint construction. The log units within each wall and at each corner joint are interconnected by a plurality of connecting rods extending transversely through the entirety of the log units at periodic longitudinal spacings.

  • Patent number: 4567709
Abstract: A building having an equal number of exterior wall and roof sections is constructed of prefabricated building units each having a roof section and wall frame section pivotably affixed for relative pivotal movement. The building units are erected in pairs on a foundation assembly by a temporary central column thereat at the upper end of which is temporarily affixed a roof section bracket and is a cable-operated hoisting assembly located above the bracket. Each pair of units is oriented on the foundation on opposite sides of the central column in a folded condition with the roof sections superimposed over the wall section frames and with the inner ends of the roof sections adjacent the column, and the inner ends of the roof sections of the pair of units are then engaged and lifted by the hoisting assembly to an elevated position at the bracket from which the roof sections incline downwardly while the wall section frames are moved outwardly from the central column.

  • Patent number: 4463532
Abstract: A prefabricated wall unit for log building construction is produced on a specially-constructed assembly frame by sequentially stacking a plurality of individual log units co-planarly and joining each log unit in sequence to the previously stacked log unit by lag bolts driven through the log units to integrate the logs in the wall unit. Longitudinal studs are affixed in relatively spaced relation to one side of the integrated logs and supplementary insulation is sprayed between the studs. A plurality of wall units are vertically arranged in relative abutting relation on and affixed to a conventional building foundation to produce a log structure, the wall units being joined to each other by the interdigitation of respective log units of abutting wall units and the driving of lag bolts through such interdigitated log units.
