  • Publication number: 20240090744
Abstract: A rigidizing device includes an elongate flexible tube, a stiffening layer positioned radially outwards of the elongate flexible tube, an outer layer over the elongate flexible tube and the stiffening layer, and a vacuum or pressure inlet between the elongate flexible tube and the outer layer and configured to attach to a source of vacuum or pressure. The elongate flexible tube includes a first reinforcement element and a second reinforcement element. The second reinforcement element is counterwound relative to the first reinforcement element. The rigidizing device is configured to have a rigid configuration when vacuum or pressure is applied through the inlet and a flexible configuration when vacuum or pressure is not applied through the inlet.

  • Publication number: 20240082557
Abstract: A hemostasis valve includes a housing having a central bore therethrough, a compression tube positioned within the central bore, a soft annular elastomeric seal positioned within the central bore distal to the compression tube, and at least one actuator coupled to the housing. Movement of the actuator relative to the housing may move the compression tube towards or away from the annular elastomeric seal to increase adjust the inner diameter of the annular elastic seal. The large-bore hemostatic valves described herein may be particularly well suited for use with controllably adjusting the seal pressure around a medical device (e.g., catheter) inserted through the valve and may maintain a tight seal at high pressure and with large diameter medical devices.

  • Publication number: 20240024640
Abstract: A rigidizing guiderail includes a rigidizing elongate tube having a tubular inner layer, a stiffening layer positioned radially outwards of the tubular inner layer, an outer layer over the tubular inner layer and the stiffening layer, and a vacuum or pressure inlet between the tubular inner layer and tire outer layer and configured to attach to a source of vacuum or pressure. The inner diameter of the tubular inner layer forms a guide wire lumen. The rigidizing elongate tube is configured to have a rigid configuration when vacuum or pressure is applied through the inlet and a flexible configuration when vacuum or pressure is not applied through the inlet.

  • Publication number: 20220104690
Abstract: An apparatus for advancing a device through a gastrointestinal tract. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes first and second grabbing mechanisms adapted to grab and release tissue of the gastrointestinal tract, the first grabbing mechanism being releasably attachable to the device, the second grabbing mechanism being attached to an outer element configured to at least partially surround the device, the first and second grabbing mechanisms being axially movable with respect to each other along the gastrointestinal tract; and a radially expandable blocking element disposed proximal to the first grabbing mechanism and movable with the first grabbing mechanism with respect to the second grabbing mechanism, the blocking element being adapted to move tissue of the intestinal tract with respect to the second grabbing mechanism when the blocking element is moved toward the second grabbing mechanism. The invention also includes corresponding methods.
