    Abstract: The present invention relates to a system and method for the separation of gaseous components from gaseous mixtures in order to control emissions and treatment of the gaseous components. In one embodiment, the system makes use of a fan or gas moving device to first impose centrifugal forces on gas streams as the gas moves from the center of the fan toward the periphery of the fan housing. Heavier gases are forced to the outer regions of the fan housing while lighter gases remain closer to the fan axis. The heavier gases and lighter gases exiting the fan housing flow into a duct at different flow rates, and the heavier gases are diverted from the larger volume gas streams and then processed.

    Abstract: A waste-derived fuel is prepared to have a particular chemical composition, including ash content, ash composition and fuel value, and physical properties as required by a particular fuel user or burning process. The fuel is prepared by collecting different waste materials, chemically analyzing each waste material, and then blending and mixing together several different waste materials in appropriate proportions to provide the desired chemical composition and fuel value. The fuel is prepared to have a homogenous, uniform, and constant composition over time. The fuel is suited for use by itself or mixed with conventional fuels to be burned as a primary fuel in the main burner of a cement kiln and pre-calciner. In that case, the fuel is preferably formulated to provide an ash composition that approximates the composition of normal cement raw material mix. The fuel can provide increased amounts of particular elements or compounds as required by the fuel user.

    Abstract: Method of treatment of a hot exhaust gas stream containing acid forming pollutants to produce a scrubbed exhaust and useful or benign by-products. The gas stream is first passed through a heat exchanger and then reacted with an aqueous, alkaline scrubbing solution. After the reaction the solution, now containing dissolved salts with a precipitate of any insolubles, is passed through the heat exchanger wherein it is heated by the gas stream to remove water therefrom, thereby crystallizing the dissolved salts, and wherein it serves to cool and dehumidify the gas stream in a manner to remove heat and collect water therefrom prior to its reacting with the scrubbing solution. Any remaining insolubles are non-toxic or useful, e.g. as cement kiln feed.

    Abstract: Method and system for scrubbing exhaust gas stream from a wet process cement plant wherein a supply of alkaline water and a supply of compressed air are delivered to spray nozzles which are located within the existing exhaust stream ducting. The alkali water is sprayed as a finely divided mist into the duct where it rapidly reacts with the oxides of sulfur and nitrogen present in the exhaust gas. The water, being in the form of very small droplets, and having small volume and large surface area to water volume ratio, rapidly evaporates. The water, therefore, does not cause a problem of wetting and clogging of the ducting and the oxides of sulfur and nitrogen are converted to dry solid particulates which are removed by normal dust collection systems downstream of the scrubber.
