  • Patent number: 7954540
Abstract: A HVAC assembly includes a temperature mixing valve that comprises a shaft, an upper paddle, a lower paddle, and a yielding means. The upper paddle and the lower paddle attach to the shaft. The yielding means applies a force to keep the upper paddle sealed to prevent cold air in a cold air inlet from entering a mixing zone and the lower paddle moves away from a shared sealing boundary over a predetermined angle of rotation before the upper paddle initially moves to allow cold air to enter the mixing zone. Movement of the lower paddle away from the shared sealing boundary allows cold air to enter a hot air inlet and admix with hot air to mix in the mixing zone to produce non-stratified air.

  • Patent number: 7832464
Abstract: An independent mixing valve sub-assembly which includes a casing defining a cold bias inlet, a hot bias inlet and a second zone inlet and a mechanism for mechanically attaching the casing to the housing of a HVAC module with the cold bias inlet, the hot bias inlet and the second zone inlet of the mixing valve sub-assembly in sealing engagement with a cold bias outlet, a hot bias outlet, and a second zone outlet of a HVAC module, respectively. The mixing valve sub-assembly may provide one or more streams of temperature-controlled air. Accordingly, different mixing valve sub-assemblies may be attached to one universal HVAC module to provide varying numbers of temperature zones.

  • Publication number: 20080200110
Abstract: An HVAC housing assembly includes a novel structure to aid the mixing of hot and cold air downstream of the evaporator and heater core. One or more variable nozzles are carried for displacement with the temperature door for accelerating some of the cold air stream through an internal housing opening and varying the cold air stream impingement angle with the hot air stream at their point of confluence to establish secondary mixing sites and substantially improving the resulting heat transfer coefficient.

  • Patent number: 7175398
Abstract: A heating and air-conditioning (HVAC) module for an automotive vehicle wherein the electric motor for the blower includes a double walled motor housing for noise abatement. The housing defines a cup-shaped inner casing with an open end and a closed end. An outer casing surrounds and is integrally connected to the inner casing by an integral flange. The outer casing extends upwardly from the flange to a rim to define a space surrounding the inner casing. An end cap includes a groove to engage the rim and extends over and in spaced relationship to the closed end of the inner casing. The end cap is held in place by fasteners threadedly engaging posts extending upwardly from the flange, with one of the posts extending upwardly from a female electrical connector that extends radially between the outer casing and the inner casing for supplying electrical power to the motor.

  • Patent number: 6747542
Abstract: An electrical resistor assembly is affixed to a blower casing of a heating, venting, and air conditioning blower motor for resisting the flow of electricity to the blower motor from an electrical circuit. The assembly includes a heat dissipater for dissipating heat generated by electrical current flowing through the circuit. A connector connects the assembly to the electrical circuit. A housing contains the dissipater and the connector. The housing includes at least one catch for fixedly attaching the assembly to the casing and includes at least one break-away element for providing access to the catch. A seal circumscribes the housing including the break-away elements for providing a leak proof mating surface between the assembly and the casing.
