  • Publication number: 20100108144
Abstract: The Flow Controlled Y Connector is a device used to control the flow of a mixture of air, water, and debris that occurs as a result of a vacuum that is created by carpet cleaning equipment. This device is effectively a piping and valve system that opens and closes based on the flow rate of the matter passing through the system.

  • Patent number: 6876114
Abstract: A magnetic flux shield extending substantially the entire width of a magnetic disk drive spindle motor magnet is mounted between the magnet and the disk drive's base frame and rotates with the magnet. The flux shield is formed of a magnetic material to capture any stray magnetic flux from the motor magnet that may produce power draining eddy currents in the base frame.

  • Publication number: 20030206386
Abstract: The present invention includes apparatus and methods to suppress transients that would otherwise have an effect on a power supply. The present invention accomplishes this by providing a power supply transient suppressor between the power supply and an inductive load, such as a spindle motor of a disc drive. The power supply transient suppressor is turned off at certain desired times so that transients caused by the inductive load do not affect the power supply. One apparatus to accomplish this suppression is to use an isolation transistor and a blocking diode. The blocking diode can be a discrete device or can be inherent in the isolation transistor. The isolation transistor is turned on and off so that undesired transients are not passed to the power supply. For example, during spin up of the spindle motor, the isolation transistor can be turned on and off to block the transients from passing to the power supply.

  • Publication number: 20020070616
Abstract: A motor comprises a shaft supported from a base frame and supporting a hub and one or more on the outer diameter thereof. A stator is supported from the shaft, and comprises a plurality of laminations supporting coils which are sequentially energized to cause rotation of a hub which overlies the stator and supports a magnet and back iron radially adjacent these stator coils. A shield is provided extending substantially the entire width of the magnet and intervening between the magnet and the base frame and rotating with the magnet. The flux shield is formed of a magnetic material to capture any stray magnetic flux from the motor magnet.

  • Publication number: 20020012279
Abstract: A disc drive includes a base, a spindle rotatably attached to the base, and at least one disc attached to the spindle. A cover is attached to the base. The cover and the base form a disc enclosure for the spindle and the disc or discs. A pump mechanism is located within the disc enclosure. The pump mechanism reduces the pressure within the disc enclosure. A valve is located in one of the cover and the base and allows a gas or fluid to move out of the disc enclosure.

  • Patent number: 6028411
Abstract: A motor control circuit controls a motor in a disc drive. The motor control circuit includes a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) providing a commutation timing signal. A commutation circuit is operably coupled to the VCO and provides commutation signals to the motor based on the commutation timing signal. A phase locked feedback circuit is operably coupled to the commutation circuit and provides a feedback signal to the VCO based on a sensed commutation phase to control a frequency of the commutation timing signal. A modulator is operably coupled to the phase locked feedback circuit and modulates the feedback signal. A method is also provided in which the commutation timing signal is modulated so as to spread a frequency spectrum of the commutation signals.

  • Patent number: 5707281
Abstract: An improved animal carcass spreader which comprises a crossbar with spreader arms mounted thereon. The spreader arms are curvilinear members having end portions with spikes mounted thereon for spreading the ribs of an animal. One of the spreader arms is fixedly mounted at the distal end of the crossbar, while the opposing spreader arm is slidably mounted. The slidable spreader arm is provided with a handle and a ratchet lever. The ratchet lever permits travel of the slidable spreader arm only in a direction away from the fixed spreader arm unless said ratchet lever is manually disengaged by squeezing the ratchet lever towards the handle and a raised stopper is provided to prevent the ratchet lever from sliding completely off the crossbar.
