Patent number: 6954689Abstract: An operator interactive apparatus for monitoring work vehicles is disclosed. The operator interactive apparatus includes an operator and machine interface for generating inputs from a work vehicle operator. The generated inputs describe conditions or problems associated with the work vehicle. The information collected by a microprocessor is communicated directly to a remote data center over a wireless data link. The information is shared and a technical service group may dispatch parts and/or maintenance information directly to a fleet operation center or alternatively directly to the operator of the work vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: December 28, 2001Date of Patent: October 11, 2005Assignee: CNH America LLCInventors: Richard E. Patent number: 5197581Abstract: An interlock mechanism for a tractor transmission having a creeper gear arrangement is disclosed wherein the operation of the tractor engine is halted whenever the creeper arrangement is left in a condition conducive to incurring unwanted creep. The interlock mechanism is in the form of an electrical circuit operably connected to the fuel shutoff valve to halt the flow of fuel to the tractor engine whenever the creeper arrangement is left in a neutral state with the clutch engaged. The interlock mechanism provides electrical power to the fuel shutoff valve under normal operating conditions. Switches associated with the operative components of the transmission control the flow of electrical current through the interlock circuit.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1992Date of Patent: March 30, 1993Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: John A. Patent number: 5138756Abstract: A control mechanism for operating a backhoe is disclosed wherein the controls are adaptable to be configured in a selected one of a two lever system, a three lever system, or a four lever system. The control mechanism includes a first pivot axis on which the control levers are pivotally mounted and a second pivot axis on which a series of bell cranks are pivotally mounted. Various linkages interconnect the control levers with the bell cranks, and the bell cranks with hydraulic valve spools in a manner in which the valve body does not have to be reconfigured depending upon which control system is utilized. The control levers are configured with a pivot casting having a bent control rod threadably received therein, the position of which is fixed by a lock nut permitting the control handle to be positioned in the orientation desired by the operator.Type: GrantFiled: May 10, 1991Date of Patent: August 18, 1992Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: Russell I. Johnson, Garry L. Ball, John O. Steinkamp

Patent number: 5125787Abstract: A tractor-loader-backhoe is disclosed wherein the loader mechanism is mounted on the frame of the prime mover by a tapered pivot pin having a fastener extending entirely through the axis of the pivot pin to effect a clamping load operable to seat the tapered pivoted in the conical hub affixed to the frame of the prime mover to assure a firm fastening of the loader mechanism on the prime mover. The backhoe mechanism is provided with a transport lock remotely accuatable from the operator's cab mounted on the prime mover and incorporating a locking pin having a concentric spring mounted thereon to urge the pin out of engagement with the frame whenever the transport lock is disengaged to permit operation of the backhoe mechanism. The boom and dipper members of the backhoe mechanism are constructed from a pair of opposing C-shaped channels having inwardly directed legs centrally located within the boom and dipper members.Type: GrantFiled: February 21, 1991Date of Patent: June 30, 1992Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: Garry L. Ball, Russell I. Johnson, Daniel D. Radke

Patent number: 5088881Abstract: A tractor-loader-backhoe is disclosed wherein the loader mechanism is mounted on the frame of the prime mover by a tapered pivot pin or sleeve having a fastener extending entirely through the axis of the pivot pin or sleeve to effect a clamping load operable to seat the tapered pivot pin or sleeve in the conical hub affixed to the frame of the prime mover to assure a firm fastening of the loader mechanism on the prime mover. The backhoe mechanism is provided with a transport lock remotely actuatable from the operator's cab mounted on the prime mover and incorporating a locking pin having a concentric spring mounted thereon to urge the pin out of engagement with the frame whenever the transport lock is disengaged to permit operation of the backhoe mechanism. The boom and dipper members of the backhoe mechanism are constructed from a pair of opposing C-shaped channels having inwardly directed legs centrally located within the boom and dipper members.Type: GrantFiled: February 19, 1991Date of Patent: February 18, 1992Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: Garry L. Patent number: 5015148Abstract: A mounting frame for use with a tractor loader is disclosed wherein the main support arms extend generally linearly from the rear pivot mounting thereof with the tractor to the front pivot mounting with the loader bucket. The thickest portion of the main support arm is positioned immediately rearwardly of the transverse torque tube interconnecting the laterally spaced main support arms. Each main support arm decreases in size from this intermediate portion toward the forward and rearward pivots. The main support arm is generally symmetrical about a straight line interconnecting the forward and rearward pivots.Type: GrantFiled: August 21, 1990Date of Patent: May 14, 1991Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: Russell I. Patent number: 4978273Abstract: A control mechanism for operably controlling three functions of the loader mechanism on a tractor-loader is disclosed wherein a longitudinal, fore and aft movement of the control lever effects operation of one function, while a transverse movement of the control lever effects operation of a second function, and a rotational movement of the control lever about the axis thereof controls the third function of the loader mechanism. The control lever includes an elongated inner member affixed to a plate being supported from the frame by a universal joint permitting pivotal movement of the plate in the transverse and longitudinal directions in response to a corresponding manipulation of the control lever. The control lever also includes an elongated tubular member rotatably mounted on the inner member and connected to an additional linkage to translate rotational movement of the elongated tubular member into linear motion for controlling operation of an auxiliary device on the loader mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: November 22, 1989Date of Patent: December 18, 1990Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: Daniel D. Patent number: 4884940Abstract: A connecting link for use on a bucket loader mountable on a tractor to control the pivotal movement of the bucket relative to the mounting frame to which the bucket is attached is disclosed wherein first and second members are telescopically associated to permit a varying of the effective length of the connecting link. A first pin is engageable through a first set of alignable holes through the first and second members to fix the telescopic position of the connecting link in an operative position. The first pin has a size sufficient to withstand the operating forces exerted on the connecting link during operation of the bucket. A second pin is engageable with the first and second members through a second set of alignable holes therethrough to shorten the effective length of the connecting link to a transport position and permit a rollback of the bucket for transport.Type: GrantFiled: March 10, 1989Date of Patent: December 5, 1989Assignee: Ford New Holland, Inc.Inventors: John O.
