Patent number: 8230888Abstract: A dispensing apparatus for delivering fluid or liquid to a container (e.g. a bottle), has a container holding device and a fluid delivery system delivering fluid to a dispensing outlet under control of an actuation member, which causes the fluid delivery system to deliver fluid in response to movement of the actuation member from its start position. A dispensing lock has a first position in which it blocks movement of the actuation member from its start position, and a second position in which it permits movement of the actuation member. A release member that releases the dispensing lock includes a movable release member which is moved by the container, during its insertion into the refill position, so as to release the dispensing lock by bringing the dispensing lock to said second position, thus enabling fluid to be delivered.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2006Date of Patent: July 31, 2012Assignee: Diversey, Inc.Inventors: Garry W. Publication number: 20100181343Abstract: A fluid dispenser contains and dispenses metered amounts of fluid, and in some embodiments comprises a reservoir for containing fluid; a chamber positioned substantially within the reservoir for containing a quantity of fluid; and a piston moveable within the chamber in a first direction to draw fluid into the chamber from the reservoir, and movable in a second direction to discharge a metered amount of fluid from the chamber. A user-manipulatable control can be coupled to the piston to move the piston with respect to the chamber, and in some cases to select the desired metered amount of fluid to be dispensed. Also, a pawl can be used to selectively permit and inhibit movement of the piston in the first and/or second directions to prevent partial doses from being dispensed from the fluid dispenser.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 9, 2008Publication date: July 22, 2010Applicant: JOHNSONDIVERSEY, INC.Inventors: Garry W. Publication number: 20100163585Abstract: A resealable closure and valve assembly adapted to be coupled to a container to selectively control the dispensing of liquid from the container. The resealable closure and valve assembly includes a non-mechanically biased stop selectively engageable with a passageway to selectively seal the passageway from a dispensable product, such as a liquid contained within a container. In some embodiments, the stop is adapted to reseal the passageway by the force of weight applied to the stop by fluid in the container. In some embodiments, the stop is adapted to reseal the passageway via a suction force.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 14, 2008Publication date: July 1, 2010Applicant: JOHNSONDIVERSEY, INC.Inventors: Garry W. Crossdale, Brian D. Haworth, Barry Hague, Lambertus G.P. van der Heijden, Martin Cooper

Publication number: 20100147894Abstract: A method and device to insure that a particular dispensing package (18) can only be engaged into an appropriate dispensing location (14). Specifically, the package and the dispenser have mating concentric rings (24, 30) (or portions thereof) to prevent engagement and dispensing of an inappropriate product. In one embodiment, the package (18) is provided with one or more concentric ring projections (24) (or portions thereof) and the dispenser (10) is provided with one or more matching concentric ring recesses (30). The projections and the recesses have similar diameters to define a mating set. In some embodiments, the concentric ring projections are placed on a closure (20), such as a cap, of the package. In alternative embodiments, the projections are placed on the dispenser and the recesses are placed on the package.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 16, 2006Publication date: June 17, 2010Applicant: JOHNSONDIVERSEY, INC.Inventors: Kirk Reimann, William E. Publication number: 20080302440Abstract: A dispensing apparatus (2) fox delivering fluid or liquid to a container (e.g. a bottle) (1), has a container holding device (3, 3?) and fluid delivery means (30) delivering fluid to a dispensing outlet (18), under control of an actuation member (20) which causes the fluid delivery means to deliver fluid in response to movement of the actuation member from its start position. A dispensing lock (43) has a first position in which it blocks movement of the actuation member (20) from its start position, and a second position in which it permits movement of the actuation member. A release member (5) that releases the dispensing lock includes a movable release member which is moved by the container, during its insertion into the refill position, so as to release the dispensing lock by bringing the dispensing lock to said second position, thus enabling fluid to be delivered.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 4, 2006Publication date: December 11, 2008Applicant: JOHNSONDIVERSEY, INC.Inventors: Garry W. Patent number: 5849253Abstract: A dispenser for powdered, granular, pellet, briquette or tablet-like material is provided. The dispenser includes a dispenser head through which the material dissolved in water can be dispensed. A spray device is provided at the head to spray water onto the material provided in the dispenser head. A suspension device is provided to suspend a bag containing the material above the dispenser head. The bag in its suspended orientation has a fastener along the bottom end which closes the bottom end of the bag. The fastener is not, however, releasable until after the bag is mounted in the dispenser. Then the fastener is releasable to allow the contents thereof to fall by gravity onto the dispenser head. The dispenser provides a system, which normally avoids contact of the toxic contents of the bag with the user. At the same time, the only waste is in the form of a bag which may be made of recyclable plastic, hence minimizing waste associated with the system.Type: GrantFiled: October 11, 1997Date of Patent: December 15, 1998Assignee: Diversey Lever, Inc.Inventors: Garry W. Crossdale, Peter J. Bacon, Michael Veveris

Patent number: 5827486Abstract: A dispenser system is provided, comprising a dispenser head (3), a feeding jet for water (7) at the dispenser head, and a reservoir immediately above the dispenser head for material to be dispensed, wherein an external supply of water is fed to a tank (4) arranged at a predetermined head above the dispenser head (3), wherein a feeding line (9) connects the tank (4) to the feeding jet (7), and wherein variations of flow to the tank (4) are accommodated by means of an overflow line (10) from the tank to a flushing jet (10) at the dispenser head, such that the water at the feeding jet (7) is always at a known pressure. This dispenser system was found to be a flexible arrangement in which low water pressures and/or varying water pressures can be adequately accomodated.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 1997Date of Patent: October 27, 1998Assignee: Diversey Lever, Inc.Inventor: Garry W. Patent number: 5682930Abstract: A dispenser for filling with liquid a container of a predetermined profile comprising a support for the container to be filled, a plurality of sources of different liquids, valves for regulating the flow of liquid from the sources into the container, a series of keys on the support, each key being movable between at least two positions, switches actuated by the respective keys, and a control connected between the switches and the valves. On mounting of a particular container on the support, the keys are moved a predetermined way by the container's predetermined profile and the control in response to the keys being moved fills the correct liquid into the container.Type: GrantFiled: June 26, 1996Date of Patent: November 4, 1997Assignee: Diversey CorporationInventor: Garry W. Patent number: 5456297Abstract: A detergent dispenser having a support for the dispenser may be filled with liquid from a suitable source. A switch controls the flow of liquid into the dispenser. The support, which may be a cradle from which the dispenser hangs or a platform on top of which the dispenser sits, holds the dispenser in conjunction with a resilient urging mechanism. The switch is activated by an empty dispenser urging against the switch. The switch is deactivated by the weight of the dispenser being filled, thus overcoming the urging mechanism.Type: GrantFiled: April 5, 1993Date of Patent: October 10, 1995Assignee: Diversey CorporationInventors: Garry W. Crossdale, Michael J. Stevens
