  • Publication number: 20090016326
Abstract: A managed private network (“MPN”) system for interconnecting enterprise entities to subscriber entities. The MPN system uses the ATM protocol and segregates data for an enterprise on to virtual connections dedicated to the enterprise. Each enterprise may have a single connection to the MPN system. The MPN system may forward data to various service providers through which subscriber entities may be connected to the MPN system. Thus, the enterprise entities need not have a separate physical connection to each service provider. Also, the MPN system can offer services (e.g., archival storage) to the enterprise entities. The MPN system ensures that data for one enterprise will not be intermingled with the data of another enterprise.

  • Publication number: 20050235384
Abstract: Loblolly pine (Pinus taeda L.) is the most important commercial tree species in the USA harvested for pulp and solid wood products. Increasing the efficiency of chemical pulping may be achieved through the manipulation of genes involved in the lignin biosynthetic pathway. A null allele of cinnamyl alcohol dehydrogenase (CAD) has been discovered in the loblolly pine clone 7-56 which displays altered lignin composition. During identification of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the cad gene, a two-base pair adenosine insertion located in exon five and unique to clone 7-56 was discovered. The sequence mutation causes a frame-shift predicted to result in premature termination of the protein. For routine detection of the mutation, a diagnostic assay was developed utilising Template-directed Dye-terminator Incorporation and Fluorescence Polarization detection (FP-TDI).

  • Publication number: 20050209095
Abstract: A method for producing dispersed metal particles on a substrate and the compositions produced is disclosed. A method for producing the particles comprises exposing an organometallic and a particulate substrate to supercritical or near supercritical fluid under conditions to form a mixture of the fluid and the organometallic, allowing the mixture to remain in contact with the substrate for a time sufficient to deposit dispersed organometallic onto the substrate, venting the mixture, thereby adsorbing the organometallic onto the substrate, and reducing the dispersed organometallic to dispersed metal particles with a reducing agent.

  • Publication number: 20050141674
Abstract: A method for monitoring a telephone call between multiple devices via call conferencing is provided. A monitoring system receives a request from one of the devices of a telephone call to conference the monitoring system into the telephone call. The monitoring system arranges a conference call that includes the devices and the monitoring system itself. The monitoring system may arrange the conference call by requesting one of the devices to initiate a conference call that includes the monitoring system. The monitoring system then receives information sent between the devices as part of a conventional conference call. The monitoring system can record the information or take some other action based on the information.

  • Publication number: 20050031817
Abstract: An elastomeric article such as a glove includes a substrate body made of an styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer, and a donning layer overlying at least one side of the substrate body. The donning layer is formed of 1,2 polybutadiene, preferably syndiotactic 1,2 polybutadiene, or a chlorinated mid block unsaturated block copolymer. Optionally, a surfactant layer is present over the donning layer to further improve the donning characteristics. The surfactant layer is preferably an alkyl dimethylbenzyl quaternary, an alkyl trimethyl quaternary, a dialkyl dimethyl quaternary, sodium lauryl sulfate, or pyridinium chloride.

  • Patent number: 5792531
Abstract: An elastomeric article such as a glove includes a substrate body made of an styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer, and a donning layer overlying at least one side of the substrate body. The donning layer is formed of a chlorinated styrene-isoprene, preferably having a polystyrene block content of from about 10 to about 20 percent by weight of the total copolymer weight and an end block polystyrene molecular weight of at least about 5,000. Optionally, a surfactant-containing layer may be present over the donning layer to further improve the donning characteristics. The article is preferably prepared by dip forming the article from an styrene-ethylene-butylene-styrene block copolymer, coating the article with a solution of the styrene-isoprene block copolymer, removing the solvent, and chlorinating the styrene-isoprene block copolymer.
