  • Patent number: 10927926
Abstract: A transmission system configured to transfer power from a power source to a load is provided. The transmission system includes an input section coupled to the power source and a range section coupled to the load. The input section includes a plurality of input clutches configured to selectively transition between engaged and disengaged states to provide one or more input speeds. The range section includes a plurality of range clutches configured to be selectively transition between engaged and disengaged states to provide one or more speed ranges. When the range section is commanded to sequentially shift between two of the one or more speed ranges, the range section is configured to maintain at least two of the plurality of range clutches in the engaged state and transition a maximum of one of the plurality of range clutches from the disengaged state to the engaged state.

  • Patent number: 10336311
Abstract: A method for controlling the speed of a work vehicle during downhill operation may include controlling an operation of at least one of an engine or a transmission of a work vehicle so as to maintain the work vehicle operating at a requested speed and identifying an operating condition of the work vehicle that provides an indication that the work vehicle is traveling downhill. In addition, the method may include determining whether at least one pre-condition for downshifting the transmission from a current gear ratio to a downshift gear ratio is satisfied when the operating condition indicates that the work vehicle is currently traveling downhill. Moreover, when it is determined that the pre-condition(s) is satisfied, the method may include controlling the operation of the transmission such that the transmission is downshifted from the current gear ratio to the downshift gear ratio.

  • Patent number: 9423026
Abstract: In one aspect, a method for controlling a continuously variable transmission when transitioning the transmission from operation within a hydrostatic mode to operation within a hydro-mechanical mode may generally include initially operating the transmission in the hydrostatic mode, receiving a mode switch signal associated with transitioning the operation of the transmission to the hydro-mechanical mode and initiating a clutch swap between a secondary range clutch and a directional clutch of the transmission. In addition, the method may include adjusting a swash plate angle of the transmission as the directional clutch is slipped in order to transition the operation of the transmission to a point along a hydro-mechanical operating curve and fully engaging the directional clutch to allow operation of the transmission along the hydro-mechanical operating curve.

  • Patent number: 9283965
Abstract: A method for enhancing the performance of a work vehicle may generally include storing a reference transmission torque and a reference transmission speed for a transmission of the work vehicle. At least one of the reference transmission torque or the reference transmission speed may be determined based at least in part on drivetrain life data associated with at least one drivetrain component of the work vehicle. In addition, the method may include determining a current transmission speed for the transmission, determining a transmission output torque limit for the transmission based on the current transmission speed, the reference transmission torque and the reference transmission speed and controlling an engine of the work vehicle such that a transmission output torque of the transmission does not exceed the transmission output torque limit while the transmission is being operated at the current transmission speed.

  • Publication number: 20050032603
Abstract: The apparatus is a 28 speed, two section, transmission that requires only a single clutch swap for most changeovers between adjacent ratios. It uses a first section with three close ratio forward speeds and one reverse along with a second section that is an 11 speed, wide ratio, transmission. The two transmission sections are arranged in series resulting at least 28 usable forward speeds. The second section includes an intermediate planetary gear set without a ring gear and an output planetary gear set that is a conventional simple planetary gear set with a two sun gears, two planes of planetary gears on a single carrier, and two ring gears.
