    Abstract: An improved thickening agent is disclosed comprising a polyurea metal salt wherein the polyurea portion of the molecule is prepared by reacting a diisocyanate, a diamine with a monoisocyanate or monoamine. The metal salt is prepared by reacting the polyurea compound with an acid group, such as a carboxylic or a sulfonic acid group, and neutralizing the terminal acid group with a basic metal compound.
