  • Patent number: 6017281
Abstract: A golf putter comprises a shaft having a grip at one end and a head fixed to the opposite end. The head has a main body section that extends transversely of the shaft. The main body section has a generally cylindrical configuration with a diameter substantially less than that of a standard golf ball. The main body section is encapsulated by a layer of resilient, fraction-enhancing material that extends across the striking face of the club head to grip the ball on impact and provide a cushioned, controlled feel when striking the ball. The putter head is formed with a counter weight stabilizer leg that extends forwardly or rearwardly of the body at an angle with respect to the shaft of the club. The leg acts to stabilize the body of club head during the back stroke and on the return stroke to assist in keeping the face of the club head square with the ball and target.
