  • Publication number: 20070296631
Abstract: A cooperative geolocation system and method. The system and method involves time stamping a plurality of received signals and modifying, such as compressing, one or more of the received signals, either with the same or with different rates of compression. A processing subsystem including a geolocation processor is used to correlate various pairs of received signals and to extract time difference of arrival (TDOA) or frequency difference of arrival (FDOA) information and to use this information in cooperatively geolocating the signal source emitting the signals being analyzed. The system enables greater rates of data compression, and thus frees up bandwidth in a network in which it is employed, as compared with previously existing cooperative geolocation systems.

  • Patent number: 7308867
Abstract: Deer and other nocturnal animals may be allowed to feed from a feeding device which also restricts feeding by squirrels, birds, and other diurnal feeders. The apparatus includes a walled enclosure having a sloped bottom for facilitating the gravity flow of animal feed toward an outlet from which the feed can then be accessed by the target animals. The opening is provided with a sliding cover which is controllably movable between a first position aligned over the opening to prevent dispensing of feed, and a second position removed from the opening to allow dispensing of feed. To prevent blockage of the cover by the feed when the cover is moved from the open to the closed position, an internal member is disposed within the enclosure which creates an accumulation chamber or dead space into which feed can be readily moved out of the path of the moving cover.

  • Publication number: 20070248193
Abstract: A method of processing a timing synchronization signal includes selecting an initial sequence of complex numbers and modifying the initial sequence based upon a metric applied to the autocorrelation function to enhance its autocorrelation properties within a predetermined window about the main autocorrelation peak determined by the timing uncertainty of the system. This two-step optimization process produces a new complex sequence used for timing acquisition. It is applied by transmitting the sequence through a medium and correlating the received signal against a known error-free sequence. Only correlation within the window of the bounded timing uncertainty is performed, thus saving valuable computational cycles. Also, because the sidelobe levels of the autocorrelated function are significantly lower within the timing uncertainty window than the sidelobe levels of a non-optimized autocorrelation function of a signal, the likelihood of finding a peak for the wrong timing signal is greatly reduced.

  • Patent number: 6990987
Abstract: Equipment and methods are provided for combining with a typical heat exchanger having numerous fin tubes, the combination allowing the containment of cleaning fluid used to clean fin tubes with high pressure liquid cleaning devices in which cleaning fluid is discharged into one end of each fin tube and out the other. An enclosure is attached to an opened end of a heat exchanger having U-shaped fin tubes, the enclosure having cleaning tool access portions for separately exposing each of at least two pluralities of the fin tubes entry ends, while continuing to cover the remaining fin tube pluralities, and the fin tube exit ends. Fluid splashed at the cleaning fluid entry end of the fin tubes and cleaning fluid exiting the fin tubes is captured and drained by the enclosure. • Publication number: 20030219085
Abstract: The present invention uses a feedback equalizer architecture with feedback samples comprised of weighted contributions of scaled soft and inversely-scaled hard decision samples, and adapts forward and feedback filters using weighted contributions of update error terms, such as Constant Modulus Algorithm (CMA) and Least Mean Squares (LMS) error terms. Combining weights are selected on a symbol-by-symbol basis by a novel measure of current sample quality. Adaptation methods of the sample quality measure are discussed. Furthermore, the present invention contains an automatic gain control circuit whose gain is adjusted at every symbol instance by a stochastic gradient descent update rule, minimizing novel cost criteria, to provide scaling factors for the hard and soft decisions.

  • Patent number: 6580440
Abstract: Techniques are described for implementing the automatic generation of a DynaKey™ GUI external file that is then used by the corresponding builder <B>, runtime <R>, and tester <T> systems. The automation begins by data-mining <D> a design document, screen-by-screen, to extract pertinent text, icon, static key, screen branching, and other necessary information. The data-mined file is then used to create a new GUI external interface file or to modify an existing interface file. During the process, information is provided in list boxes to insure the design document is free of errors as well as to provide a log of update modifications when an interface is modified. The list box contents can also be printed to allow for viewing an expanded version of the list box contents. Accordingly, many successive prototypes leading to the final production system can be implemented much more quickly and efficiently than with typical preexisting approaches.

  • Publication number: 20030028988
Abstract: A cleaning implement for removing debris from a surface comprises a handle, a mop head, and a joint connecting the handle and mop head; wherein the joint is adjustable and lockable. The joint allows the angle between the mop head and the handle to be adjusted appropriately and then locked into place. Another embodiment of the present cleaning implement comprises a handle and a mop head, wherein the mop heads comprises one or more gliders to facilitate the ability of the cleaning implement to glide smoothly across the surface being cleaned. Methods of removing debris comprise the step of contacting the surface with a cleaning implement of the present invention.

  • Patent number: 6514098
Abstract: An electrical connector housing assembly is provided having a plug assembly and cap assembly matable with one another to form a wire to wire, wire to board or wire to device connection. The plug assembly is formed with a latching member thereon, while the cap assembly is formed with a connector position assurance device (CPA) thereon. The overall envelope of the connector housing assembly is reduced by dividing the latch member and CPA between the plug and cap housings. Keying features are formed integrally with plug and cap terminal position assurance devices (TPAs) to ensure proper orientation between the plug and cap and to further assure that each plug is connected to the corresponding cap. The overall envelope is further reduced by forming the keying features internal to the housings upon the TPAs.

  • Patent number: 6510909
Abstract: A rolling cone bit includes at least one cone cutter having a gage row of cutter elements and a first inner row of near but off-gage cutter elements that are positioned so as to divide the sidewall and bottom hole cutting duty so as to enhance bit durability, maintain borehole diameter and improve ROP. The off-gage distance of the first inner row of cutter elements is defined for various bit sizes to optimize the division of cutting duty. The distance that the first inner row of cutter elements are off-gage may be constant for all the cones on the bit or may be varied among the various cones to balance the durability and wear characteristics on all the cones of the bit.
