  • Publication number: 20200041679
Abstract: In an acoustic logging system utilizing one or more acoustic sources, each with a specified radiation pattern around a source orientation, an acoustic signal is transmitted into a formation with a source oriented in a first source orientation. An acoustic waveform is received in response with a receiver oriented in a first direction. The slowness of the formation in the first direction is calculated using the received acoustic waveform.

  • Patent number: 9638022
Abstract: Borehole data presentation systems and methods that facilitate communication of volumetric logging data to a surface processing system for presentation to a driller or other user interested in visualizing the formations surrounding a borehole. The disclosed systems optionally tailor the telemetry stream to match the chosen display technique, thereby maximizing the logging system utility for the driller. Variable opacity of certain data regions or certain data discontinuities greatly facilitates data comprehension, particularly when true three-dimensional display technologies are employed. Holographic or stereoscopic display technologies may be employed to show the three-dimensional dependence of measured formation properties such as resistivity, density, and porosity. Alternatively, the radial axis can be used to represent a formation parameter value, thereby enabling cylindrical cross-plots of multiple measurements.

  • Patent number: 9371721
Abstract: Drain wells can be used to direct a fluid to a central production well in a subsurface well system. Subsurface well systems can include a production well extending from the earth's surface, a collection region having a fluid connection to the production well and either being contiguous with the production well or comprising a collection well that intersects or is in fluid communication with the production well, and at least one branched drain well extending laterally from the production well and including one or more branches that extend from the at least one branched drain well, wherein at least one of the one or more branches intersects or is in fluid communication with the collection region.

Date of Patent: June 21, 2016
    Assignee: Halliburton Energy Services, Inc.

  • Publication number: 20050251342
Abstract: A method is disclosed that may include separating modes in a plurality of coherent time-domain signals to form a plurality of separated modes, generating frequency coherence information for each of the plurality of separated modes, and combining the frequency coherence information for each of the plurality of separated modes to form combined frequency coherence information. An apparatus and system may include a processor and a storage device that can be encoded with computer-readable instructions, wherein the instructions when read and executed by the processor may include activities such as separating modes in a plurality of coherent time-domain signals, and recombining the modes in a frequency domain.
